Moi Composites, a composites manufacturing company, has announced the commercial launch of its Hybrid Fabrication Platform (HFP) Series, a novel industrial additive manufacturing system designed to redefine the standards of large-format additive manufacturing (LFAM) with thermoset composites.

Developed through years of research in hardware engineering, software development, and material science, the HFP Series combines SFM (Short Fiber Manufacturing) technology with precision milling capabilities in a modular, fully digital platform. The result is a balanced combination of design freedom, material performance, and process efficiency for industrial applications. By combining additive deposition with thermoset composites and subtractive precision machining into one environment, Moi Composites aims to eliminate the sequential,  multi-machine workflows that have long been a bottleneck in composite production.

At the heart of the HFP Series lies the new S18  SFM toolhead, now commercially available both as part of the HFP system and as a standalone unit ready for integration into existing robotic setups.

The SFM process utilizes a robotic system to deposit next-gen thermoset-based AM materials reinforced with high fractions of short fibers, achieving high mechanical performance and precision. For Formnext 2025, Moi Composites will demonstrate live printing using its sG + A1134 glass-fiber reinforced vinyl ester system, chosen for its exceptional stiffness, thermal stability, and chemical resistance.

This evolution reinforces Moi Composites’ mission to deliver scalable, high-performance composite manufacturing and deliver near-net-shape parts with minimal finishing. This novel AM workflow is optimized for the rapid production of high-performance molds, tooling, and functional components, offering manufacturers a fast, sustainable, and flexible solution for composite production.

Benefits of the technology

Powered by SFM technology, the HFP Series introduces radical new efficiencies in large-scale composite manufacturing. Thanks to its rapid-curing resins, the system achieves deposition speeds of up to 180 mm/s, enabling fast, continuous printing without compromising accuracy. At the same time, the process is inherently waste-free, as material is deposited only where needed, and finishing operations remove just minimal excess, further optimizing resource use.

The combination of rapid polymerization and precise control also allows for support-free printing, enabling the creation of complex geometries and overhangs in a single step. In addition, both SFM and CFM (Continuous Fiber Manufacturing) materials offer excellent long-term stability, remaining ready to use for up to 12 months at room temperature with no pre-drying required, simplifying storage, handling, and day-to-day operations.

At Formnext (Booth 12.1 C82), visitors can experience Moi Composites’ Plug&Print robotic cell in action, featuring live demonstrations of the HFP Series producing composite parts.

On November 20, at 2:45 PM, Tommaso Geri, CTO of Moi Composites, will present “Short Fiber Manufacturing: Industrial Additive Manufacturing Reimagined” on the Technology Stage.
