New Modix Extra Large 120X 3D printer now available for pre-order
The new Modix Extra Large 120X 3D printer boasts a build volume of 120 x 60 x 60 cm

Large-format 3D printer company Modix has announced its newest product, the Modix Extra Large 120X, to be presented at the upcoming TCT 2018 show. The new 3D printer, which is now available for pre-order, boasts a massive build volume of 120 x 60 x 60 cm and is retailing for $6,000.
Based in Israel, Modix started out as a fairly small manufacturer of desktop 3D printers. Last year, the company transitioned to become a global developer of large format 3D printers. It’s latest announcement further reinforces its position in the large-format 3D printer business, as the Modix Extra Large 120X was built to make large-scale, high volume prototyping and production more accessible to startups, designers, researchers and more.
Taking a look at the company’s new 3D printer more closely, we find a self-assembly machine with a modular configuration. The modular nature of the Modix Extra Large 120X means that users who have already purchased a Modix Big 60 3D printer will have the opportunity to buy a 120X upgrade kit for $2,500.

In terms of hardware, the Modix Extra Large 120X is equipped with E3D print heads, Hiwin motion rails, an Alcoa Mic6 print bed, Modix’s new 100-point automatic bed leveling system and more. The 3D printer, which builds on the success of its slightly smaller predecessor, the Modix Big 60 (with a build volume of 60 x 60 x 60 cm), is accompanied by a step-by-step assembly guide, 3D models of sub-assemblies, an instruction video and free technical support from the Modix team.
“The Extra Large 120X advances our strategy of building large, high quality modular 3D printers,” commented Modix CEO and Founder Shachar Gafni. “The success of our first large model helped us grow to become a global company, and we’re now honored to serve users around the world from small startups and workshops to the R&D departments of Philips, Applied Materials, and General Electric. This latest release confirms Modix’s dedication to building affordable, innovative, and heavy duty 3D printing solutions for designers, artists and engineers.”
In addition to presenting its new Extra Large 120X 3D printer at the upcoming TCT show, Modix has also announced that its flagship product, the Modix Big 60, will now be available as the Modix Big 60 Version 2. The company says that after seven iterations and extensive feedback from over 200 clients around the world, it has integrated a range of new features (including the same hardware components as the Extra Large 120X printer) to improve the printer’s performance and assembly ergonomics.
Modix will be present at TCT 2018 from September 25 to 27 at booth E21.T.
