Modix announces four new large-format 3D printers, new COO, more
The company's various announcements support its goal of becoming a leader in large-format printing

Modix, an Israel-based developer of large-format 3D printing systems, has made a series of big announcements today, including the launch of four new 3D printers, a new reseller program and the appointment of a new Chief Commercial Officer (COO). The announcements each bolster the company’s overarching goal of becoming a global leader in the large-format 3D printing segment.
With the announcement of four new 3D printing systems, Modix is more than doubling its hardware offering, which consisted of the Big60 V2 (with a build volume of 610 x 610 x 610 mm) and the 120X 3D printer (with a build volume of 1200 x 610 x 610 mm), which was announced in September 2018.
Expanding the hardware range
The new 3D printers, which are expected to become available in Q3 2019, include the:
- Big-1000: a shorter and wider version of the Big-120X with a build space of 1000 x 1000 x 600 mm
- Big-120Z: a 3D printer with a build space of 600 x 600 x 1200 mm geared to the art, fashion and advertising industries
- Big-180X: a long 3D printer ideal for the automotive industry with a build space of 1800 x 600 x 600 mm
- Big-40: a smaller system for tall, narrow parts such as prosthetic legs with a build space of 400 x 400 x 600 mm
All the 3D printer models are based on Modix’s tried and tested modular 3D printer design. More details about the hardware pricing and specifications will be revealed at release.
Forging new partnerships
In addition to announcing the four new 3D printers, Modix is also launching a new reseller program through which it is seeking to work with specialized resellers in the 3D printing industry. The Tel Aviv-based company says that its affordable large-format 3D printers will be a great addition to resellers that offer smaller 3D printers.
Resellers can market the Modix large-format systems as they are—as self-assembly kits—and offer assembly services for an additional fee.
Welcoming new leadership
Last but not least, Modix is welcoming a new COO to its leadership team: John Van EL, a veteran of the 3D printing industry. Van EL’s experience and connections in the industry will support the growth of Modix’s reseller and partner programs.
“I am very happy to join Modix,” commented Van EL. “Modix is a promising fast growing company with a strong position in the professional 3D printing market offering high quality large scale 3D printers with an attractive price tag. Our printers are ranged between 5,000 to 10,000 USD, where resellers enjoy higher profit margins. We see an increasing demand from professional 3D printers owners for larger print volume, either for batch productions of small parts or to avoid splitting big models into smaller parts. Large format is now the trend and this is exactly the Modix unique offering.”
Modix CEO Shachar Gafni, added: “We are proud to have John with us. John brings aboard unique capabilities and experiences strengthening Modix’s current momentum on the path to become a global leader in the large scale 3D printing market.”
