MakerBot debuts CloudPrint software for remote collaboration

A 3D printing workflow solution for the new WFH reality

Stratasys-owned MakerBot has launched a new software platform, MakerBot CloudPrint, to enable easier 3D printing collaboration with partners across the globe. The software was developed to facilitate remote working and enables users to easily manage and control their 3D print jobs from virtually anywhere.

MakerBot CloudPrint, previously known as MakerBot Cloud, can be used across multiple devices and is browser accessible, meaning individuals can control their 3D printing jobs remotely and teams can stay on the same page, even from a distance. The software, which is currently free to use, combines many tools and features of MakerBot Print with the scalability of the cloud.

Without the right tools, this can lead to a disruption in work and, ultimately, a decrease in performance,” explained Nadav Goshen, CEO of MakerBot. “We believe that MakerBot CloudPrint is an ideal solution for individual or team collaboration from anywhere. MakerBot CloudPrint offers an all-in-one solution for users to prepare, queue, print and manage printers. MakerBot CloudPrint aims to easily adapt to your workflow, no matter how many printers you have. This solution was built with productivity in mind, and we plan to continuously improve the fastest CAD-to-part benefits of the METHOD platform.”

MakerBot CloudPrint has a number of features. In the print preparation phase, the software offers intuitive tools for 3D model slicing and visualization, as well as print mode settings and a live camera feed. In regards to printer management, it enables users to add, monitor and control access to connected MakerBot machines as well as to track and view print jobs directly from the browser.

MakerBot CloudPrint also integrates a queuing feature that helps users to prioritize certain print jobs. 3D printers can also now be grouped together using a new collaboration feature. This makes it easier for teams to manage multiple printers, and permissions can be set for various team members. Finally, the software unlocks advanced METHOD printer settings, including additional MakerBot LABS for METHOD user settings, custom print profiles, access to METHOD extruders and materials and more.

Overall, the new software platform is meant to streamline the 3D printing workflow while taking into account our new work from home reality. The software is compatible with MakerBot’s METHOD 3D printer series, as well as the MakerBot SKETCH Classroom bundle and the MakerBot Replicator 3D printer series. Users will be able to benefit from future software updates, including speed optimizations, print performance improvements, multi-model support and more.
