Thermoplastic resin distribution company M. Holland has launched an online solutions platform for 3D printing, which will enable remote access to 3D printing education and training resources. The platform, called the Additive Manufacturing Educational Portal, was introduced in response to COVID-19 stay-at-home guidances and enables participants to virtually access training programs, educational courses, certifications, materials, printed parts and technical information.

Though M. Holland still plans to offer in-person training, the company has strategically invested in the development of a new online portal over the past several months to offer remote access to 3D printing resources. The e-learning platform offers an alternative method for M. Holland’s partners to learn new skills related to 3D printing processes and materials.

“Based on months of research and content development, we are pleased to launch this virtual hub to complement our on-site training services and provide our clients with educational resources,” commented Haleyanne Freedman, market manager and engineering consultant of 3D Printing at M. Holland. “This site provides a library of educational courses, certifications and curriculum, which are easily accessible for those who are interested in learning more about 3D printing technologies.”

Members of the educational portal have the opportunity to enroll in a variety of training courses, spanning essentials for fused deposition modeling (FDM), selective laser sintering (SLS) and photopolymerization (SLA and DLP); a guide to design for AM; operation guidance for 3D printer selection; material properties and more. M. Holland also adds that it can work with partners to create customized curriculum based on specific needs and requests.

Presently, the portal offers a 17-part course covering Additive Manufacturing Essentials for polymers. Access costs $1,500 for the lesson bundle. Two other courses, “Metal FDM 3D Printing Essentials and Design” and “Additive Manufacturing for Polymers Advanced” are available for pre-order.

Recently, the materials distribution company announced a partnership with BASF to distribute its Ultrafuse 316L metal composite filament.
