Lynxter and Hôpitaux de Paris integrate silicone 3D printing
The partnership will develop realistic, customizable, and ethically-compliant medical simulators
Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP), through its 3D printing platform PRIM3D, and French company Lynxter, a specialist in industrial 3D printing, have entered a partnership to integrate silicone 3D printing at the heart of the hospital. The partnership will develop realistic, customizable, and ethically-compliant medical simulators that will ultimately reduce the reliance on cadavers and animals for training.
Launched in January 2023, the PRIM3D platform brings together a wide range of expertise and cutting-edge technologies (FDM, SLA, Polyjet, liquid/filament MEX) within 200m² dedicated to innovation. Its mission is to accelerate hospital innovation by creating original or custom devices (anatomical simulators for training healthcare professionals, personalized medical devices, anatomical models for surgical planning, research tools, etc.).
As an in-house Hôpitaux de Paris service, it caters to healthcare professionals as well as researchers, industry players, and start-ups, and is part of an ecosystem of excellence alongside AP-HP’s training campuses, simulation institutes, and experimental tiers-lieux.
Lynxter brings unique expertise in silicone 3D printing through its S300X – LIQ21 | LIQ11 and S600D machines, now installed within PRIM3D. This technology makes it possible to produce flexible, realistic, and biocompatible medical devices, particularly for the manufacturing of: hyper-realistic surgical simulators; complex anatomical models; and customized components for training or surgical planning.
As part of this collaboration, PRIM3D acts as a beta tester, assessing the integration of these technologies within the hospital environment. This crucial step helps identify the most relevant solutions for each use case (clinical, educational, or research) in direct collaboration with healthcare professionals.
“PRIM3D catalyzes the diffusion of new technologies, making them more rapidly accessible to caregivers and patients. Our technologies are in good hands, and we can make them even more relevant thanks to the feedback of an experienced and passionate team,” said Thomas Batigne, CEO of Lynxter.
By focusing on co-development between engineers and clinicians, PRIM3D and Lynxter are paving the way for a new generation of multi-technology medical simulators.
