Lubrizol announces commercial release of TPU material for HP MJF 4200 series

Lubrizol Engineered Polymers, an Ohio-based materials company, has announced the commercial availability of its ESTANE 3D TPU M95A powder, certified for HP’s Multi Jet Fusion 4200 series. The material, which first became available through Re3DTech’s AM service last month, is now broadly available for HP MJF 4200 users.

HP worked closely with its materials partner Lubrizol in the development of ESTANE 3D TPU M95A in order to qualify it for its MJF 4200 platform. The companies also conducted an extensive beta testing program in collaboration with Belgian 3D printing service ZiggZagg to ensure the material was up to standard.

Now, the TPU-based 3D printing powder is available commercially, enabling HP MJF 4200 users to exploit the benefits of the strong, flexible thermoplastic material. The TPU-based material has applications in the footwear, prosthetics, wearables and industrial markets.

In terms of its printability, Lubrizol compares the powder’s processing and cold packing properties to those of PA12. ESTANE 3D TPU M95A is also known for its excellent elongation and tensile strength, its good energy rebound, high impact absorption, low abrasion rate and good compression. The combination of these properties makes the 3D printing material ideal for various prototyping and production applications.

HP has also qualified a TPU material by BASF, ULTRASINT, for its Jet Fusion 5200 Series.
