Laser Prototypes Europe (LPE), a Belfast-based additive manufacturing service provider, has installed a new EOS P396 SLS system to bring its total number of industrial SLS platforms to four. The investment comes as a direct response to growing market demand for production-grade 3D printed components.

LPE said the system’s large build volume and stable process control would allow it to manage bigger production runs and reduce lead times, while maintaining the consistency required for end-use parts as part of a repeatable, production-focused output.

The addition follows a year of significant growth for LPE. In 2025, the company became the first organization globally to install two Hybrid Photosynthesis System (HPS) platforms. The EOS P396 further builds out LPE’s polymer portfolio.

“Additive manufacturing has matured into a mainstream production solution, and we are seeing that reflected in the scale of projects coming through our doors,” stated Patrick Walls, Engineering Director at LPE. “It’s no longer just about the ‘first off’ part; it’s about repeatable quality across an entire batch.

“This latest expansion helps us to bridge that gap for our customers, providing the high-volume throughput they need without losing the precision and certification that LPE is known for.”

LPE’s broadened SLS offering covers a range of functional polymer and metal materials, supported by in-house post-processing capabilities.

The company holds AS9100, ISO 9001, and ISO 13485 accreditations, which enable its servicing of industrial specifications across sectors from research and development through to full-scale production.
