# Liuzhou Yinrui cuts new model development time by one-third with metrology scanning

Liuzhou Yinrui Vehicle Industry Co., Ltd., a stamping parts and assembly supplier to major Chinese automakers, has achieved a reduction in new model development time by at least one-third after adopting [SHINING 3D](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/shining-3d/)'s [FreeScan Trak Nova wireless dynamic tracking and scanning system](https://www.voxelmatters.com/shining-3d-launches-freescan-trak-nova-and-trak-prow/) for part inspection.

The Guangxi-based company, designated a National High-Tech Enterprise and a recognized ‘Specialized and Sophisticated SME’, previously relied on custom inspection fixtures for every stamping part it produced. That meant each fixture took between 1.5 and 2 months to design and build — a lead time that frequently outlasted the part prototypes waiting on them.

For components requiring both top and bottom inspection, two separate fixtures were sometimes necessary, further compounding both cost and delay.

## A wireless scanner replaces months of tooling

Yinrui's quality team now uses the FreeScan Trak Nova inside a dedicated measurement room. The system consists of two units: the UE Nova handheld scanner and the TE Nova tracking unit.

The scanner operates without markers — [its built-in dynamic tracking system follows the device in real time](https://www.voxelmatters.com/shining-3ds-freescan-trak-quantifies-hull-geometry-for-aluminum-electric-catamaran/) — and generates 3D mesh data instantly, with no separate post-processing required. Engineers import a CAD model into inspection software, align it with scan data, and a color deviation map identifies dimensional errors within minutes.

“Compared to traditional fixtures, the biggest advantage of SHINING 3D's scanners is that they eliminate fixture development time — that cuts project time by at least a third,” explained Mr. Zeng, Quality Department Head at Liuzhou Yinrui Vehicle Industry Co.

“In the past, prototypes would be ready, but fixture development would lag behind. It just couldn't keep up. Cost is another pain point. Some parts need top-and-bottom inspection, which sometimes requires two separate fixtures. With a 3D scanner, you can scan both sides at the same time — that's a real plus.”

The non-contact scanning method also reduced the risk to thin-walled stamping parts that could deform under the pressure of traditional probes and gauges.
