Link3D, a SaaS-based MES platform for AM, is introducing the AMWatch IoT Platform. AMWatch will enable direct interaction with AM Machines to monitor the progress of builds, derive insights from sensor data, and vastly improve and automate quality management systems.
The information from AMWatch is connected to Link3D MES, with dashboards, and provides real-time machine updates to enable production decisions. Customers will have access to visually observe operating conditions of the printer remotely. Additionally, the data gathered can help pinpoint manufacturing anomalies and trends throughout the production process that can impact quality.
The real-time data repository becomes the backbone for quality system analytics to allow for the identification of root causes of part defects. Ultimately, a better understanding of this information can improve the speed-to-market for qualified and certified parts. This type of insight is critical to maintain customer’s part certifications and uphold standards/regulations.
“At Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, 3D printer connectivity is a foundational tool enabling the real-time management of production requirements locally and across the enterprise,” said Christopher Wiegman, Digital Transformation Engineering Manager. “The ability to have real-time insight into and management of current production print queues is critical to meeting our customer objectives. The local and centralized enterprise dashboards with Lockheed Martin’s Intelligent Factory Framework and Link3D’s machine connectivity allows utilization management of Lockheed Martin’s extensive additive investment.”
Key highlights of AMWatch include real-time visibility of environmental conditions that can impact part quality and can monitor job completion status as well as aggregation of data across technology platforms to compile the data-set for predictive analytics. Historical build and production information allows for statistical process control (SPC) to guide qualification requirements
“Stratasys understands the need for a connected factory floor and is building the smart factory of the future with our Printer Connectivity Strategy. Together, we are bringing Stratasys GrabCAD SDK’s to the market in partnership with Link3D’s AMWatch,” revealed Stratasys VP of Product Software, Paul Giaconia, “The combination of our products addresses joint customers’ challenges including automated production quality insights across the factory floor, dynamic scheduling, and optimization of throughput.”
Mirco Schöpf, Product Line Manager Software at EOS added: “As a valued member of the EOS Developer Network, Link3D advances digitalization of additive manufacturing. Key success factors of scalable digital production are the ease of integration and a single source of truth for production and quality data. AMWatch can be seamlessly integrated with EOS’s open APIs. This will allow our customers to optimize their production real-time and to make sound decisions based on what is happening in the factory.”
Link3D Co-founder and CTO, Vishal Singh, concluded: “AMWatch™ can improve visibility to the additive production environment and provide more robust analytics for real-time decision making— ultimately leading to improved manufacturing yield rates, quality systems, and machine utilization. Link3D’s new product will enable organizations to establish the foundation of a data-driven additive manufacturing ecosystem.”
