Lincotek opening Additive Production Center in Trento, Italy

Lincotek Additive, the AM division of Italian global contract manufacturer Lincotek, is opening a new state-of-the-art Additive Production Center at its site in Trento. The facility, which houses a high-vacuum furnace and validated heat treatment process for titanium 3D printed parts, will be dedicated to the development and production of medical devices.

Lincotek has been working with additive manufacturing since 2006, leveraging its experience in metallurgy as well as in additive processing and design to develop medical solutions for its customers. The new Lincotek Additive facility will reportedly triple the company’s capacity for thermal treatment at the Northern Italy location. The company says its titanium AM capability and validated heat treatment solution results in “best-in-class scrap rates and high reliability.”

The new facility not only houses a validated heat treatment process for titanium AM parts, Lincotek Additive has also installed a range of new instruments that will help it master AM powder metallurgy. The cutting-edge site is expected to drive new project development as well as the company’s validation capability for AM applications. On the customer side, the updated facility will enable faster lead times and a robust validation strategy.

“Today, we’re globalizing our reach, by having invested in an AM facility in our plant in Memphis, Tennessee to best support our US medical customers. In 2019 we have moved to the next step, by opening an Additive Innovation Center in Switzerland, Europe focused on the IGT and Aviation market. We are already working on the next step of growth, looking at expanding our AM capability in China too.”
