Latest trend report sees HP, Ultimaker and Prusa Research on the rise in 3D Hubs network

Global 3D printing network 3D Hubs is releasing the latest 3D hubs trend report Q2 2018. The unique B2B, B2P and P2P platform is providing key insights into the habits of its users – which now amount to an impressive 7.364 selected hubs worldwide for a total of almost 1.5 million parts printed. The report will be available for download at this link.

In the new report, HP has shown its dominance as the #2 highest rated industrial machine by customers (significantly up from #8 n Q1) receiving parts made by its Jet Fusion 4200 machine. MJF systems also doubled their output from 2,500 parts made in Q1 to 5,087 in Q2. Industrial grade SLS and SLA systems continue to make up most of the top 10 highest rated products for part quality.

From a desktop standpoint, there are two clear winners with Prusa Research and Ultimaker making up 6 out of the 10 spots. With the desktop FDM market share increases for both parties, this control of the Top 10 could become even more pronounced. The Prusa Research MK2 becomes the most used on the platform creating 15.087 parts with many suppliers on 3D Hubs now using multiples of this machine for bulk production.

The chase for the title of #1 Top Print City is hotting up with New York maintain top position with 2.7% but London at #2 gained 0.5% market share growing to 2.4%. This meteoric rise could be down students creating prototypes for their end of January assessments. Categories such as Trending Printers, Printer Model distribution and Printer Manufacturer distribution are now featured on 3D Hubs’ blog. Black is still the #1 most used color for 3D printing extending its lead: 4 out of 10 parts on 3D Hubs are made in black.
