Farsoon Technologies, a laser sintering and materials developer, completed the installation of two systems for Chuanglian 3D Technology Company. An HT1001P CAMS and three Flight 403P systems were installed. These installations represent a budding partnership between Farsoon and Chuanglian, which further reflects Farsoon’s growing market share. This growth is balanced by growing tensions between the United States and mainland Chinese manufacturers. Farsoon’s partnership consolidates Farsoon’s relationships in its local market, thus strengthening the company’s operations.

Tensions between the United States and China are particularly high around technology companies, which are viewed by both sides as critical to national security interests. These concerns have spilled over in recent months to a broader cleavage between Western and Chinese interests, most notably surrounding 5G networks. Farsoon’s partnership with Chuanglian solidifies its footing in China even as it continues to expand.

At least one American law firm heralds additive manufacturing as a critical industry in any American Self-Reliance policy. Revised Chinese export control rules-the same rules that have frustrated the ByteDance’s sale of TikTok-also impact the free exchange of additive manufacturing technology.

Amid the rising geopolitical stakes, Chuanglian, the largest 3D printing service provider on China’s north-east coast, possesses more than 100 additive and post-processing systems. Farsoon’s systems expand Chuanglian’s capacity to manufacture greater volumes and finer products while maintaining local service for each system.

Both of Farsoon’s products use laser sintering to shape polymers to clients’ designs. The addition of Farsoon’s HT1001P system allows Chuanglian to maintain continuous series production of high-performance materials. Build volumes can reach one meter wide, 50 centimeters deep and 45 centimeters high. These large sizes permit intensive manufacturing applications. The Flight 403P systems further offer improved printing speeds, with detail resolutions and a new range of compatible materials that Chuanglian can offer its clients. The Flight series is particularly suited to creating finer details due to its fiber laser.

Chuanglian 3D’s general manager, Mr. Wang Xiaochen, is enthused by these new machines, which he bills as an extension of Bohai Bay’s long history of manufacturing: “With an industry foundation dating back to [the] early 1900s, Bohai Bay coastal area is the true birthplace of modern manufacturing in China. However, one of the mainstays that enables us to inherit and transform this legacy into the future is technology innovation.”

Mr. Xiaochen points out that Farsoon advances this long history: “With innovative solutions, top-tier quality products, excellent cost-performance and first-class customer service, Farsoon has convinced us that entering into a long-term partnership will realize the additive business into manufacturing reality.”

Farsoon’s recent partnership with Chuanglian suggests that Farsoon is expanding its Chinese base in conjunction with growing international partnerships. The move comes at a time when growing tensions between China and the United States place technology partnerships in the spotlight.

Farsoon has been growing its global business. Two German service bureaus, Modellbau Kurz GmbH and FKM Sintertechnik GmbH brought Farsoon’s HT1001P laser sintering system into full commercial use after successful beta testing. Farsoon’s ‘Open for Industry’ philosophy allows these German users to exchange adapted additive configurations. The quality of this communication allows users to quickly adapt designs to application priorities.

BMW’s new AM technology campus has, moreover, added the HT1001P to its additive manufacturing facility. The automaker is now able to fabricate large parts to order on its production floor.

3dpbm has previously reported on Farsoon’s international success. The company’s current partnership with Oerlikon aims to accelerate additive manufacturing adoption in China. Oerlikon supplies metal powders for Farsoon’s systems. Farsoon has also partnered with Airbus to collaborate on research and development for additive manufacturing applications in civil aviation.
