Kings3D shows off upgraded multimaterial SLM 3D printer from Laseradd
The DiMetal 100D and 300D (aka M300D) offer multi-material gradient forming with up to 4 materials
Aerosint, acquired by Schaeffler, is no longer the only multi-material SLM 3D printer option on the market but it was just a matter of time. As it continues its expansion towards Western markets, the Kings3D Group is pushing the metal multi-material technology developed by the recently acquired Laseradd. The company’s DiMetal 100D and 300D (aka M300D) can offer multi-material gradient forming with up to 4 materials.
The machines aren’t new but they have recently been upgraded and they’re being actively marketed now as Laseradd can leverage Kings3D marketing strength. The system’s development began in 2018, with support from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Key R&D Projects, and Provincial Key R&D Projects.
The company is focusing primarily on the Dimetal-100D, a small-scale laser selective melting device that can be used for multi-material development and customization. A key advantage of the Dimetal-100D is its multi-material direct molding feature, which supports gradient forming of one to two kinds of materials and multi-material ordered composite forming.
Targeted mainly at education and scientific research, the device’s flexibility makes it suitable for a wide range of experimental setups, allowing researchers to push the boundaries of material science. This allows for highly customized production, meeting specific needs across different industries. Additionally, the device is equipped with a flexible and replaceable powder-spreading scraper system, providing efficient material handling and better control over the molding process.
The Dimetal-100D is also integrated with the Lejia fresh air system, ensuring efficient operation with double filter protection. This feature maintains a stable forming environment, which is essential for producing high-quality parts. Moreover, the device’s fully closed vacuum chamber helps maintain low oxygen content, preventing oxidation of the metal during the forming process, thus ensuring the integrity and durability of the final product.
The Dimetal-100D from Kings 3D and Laseraddcan be used for custom, high-precision implants and prosthetics. Its capability to handle complex geometries and multi-material builds ensures that orthopedic components are not only functional but also tailored to meet patient-specific needs. This extends to the dental industry as well, where the Dimetal-100d is used to produce dental implants, crowns, and bridges that meet the highest standards of accuracy and durability.
The Dimetal-100D also finds a significant role in the jewelry industry, to create complex, custom-designed pieces with intricate details. Jewelers can experiment with new designs and materials, offering unique and personalized products to customers, by leveraging the device’s multi-material capabilities.
