# King Faisal Specialist Hospital’s in-house 3D printing program cuts operative time by 30%

[King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center's (KFSH) ](https://www.voxelmatters.com/kfshrc-wins-global-excellence-award-for-3d-printing-project/)in-house 3D printing program is reducing operative times by up to 30%, while improving clinical predictability and patient outcomes.

The program allows surgical teams to produce patient-specific anatomical models within the hospital, enabling physicians to simulate procedures in advance, refine decision-making, and reduce uncertainty during surgery.

Rather than relying on external fabrication, [KFSH has consolidated engineering, medical imaging, and clinical expertise into a single workflow](https://www.voxelmatters.com/kfshrc-treats-inner-ear-disorders-using-ultra-micro-3d-printing/) — a configuration the hospital says has also shortened patient stays and reduced procedural risk.

The 3D printing initiative forms part of KFSH's wider strategy to expand emerging technologies across its care continuum, with particular focus on precision medicine, genomics, and digital simulation.

## Program to be presented at Silicon Valley health summit

KFSH will present the program at the C3 Davos of Healthcare Silicon Valley Summit 2026 in California this week, of which it is a global strategic partner, and where the integration of advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and clinical practice into broader healthcare models will all be central themes.

The hospital will also outline its strategy for embedding AI within clinical workflows and operational processes, rather than treating it as a standalone toolset, at the event.

“Artificial intelligence delivers value in healthcare when it is fully integrated into clinical workflows and operational systems,” stated Dr. Björn Zoëga, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of KFSH. “The challenge is no longer the development of new technologies, but the ability to deploy them at scale in ways that support consistent performance and measurable outcomes across the care continuum.”

KFSH says it has deployed more than 30 AI applications across diagnostics, clinical decision support, and patient experience monitoring, as well as completing more than 170,000 interventions since 2021 using predictive analytics to manage patient flow, forecast demand, and improve system responsiveness.
