JuggerBot3D acquires property for $975K to fuel expansion

As reported in the local online newspaper Business Journal, the owners of Youngstown-based JuggerBot3D have purchased a property for $975,000 as they plan for ongoing growth and potential future acquisitions. The recent purchase highlights the company’s need for expanded production capacity and support for other local businesses.

Also located at the Southern Boulevard building is Ursa Major, another tenant of YBI’s Tech Block Building #5, which has established a research and development center focused on additive manufacturing and materials technology for rocket engine production. Both companies are considered strategic for US manufacturing and defense demands. Both companies are also currently involved in DoD-funded projects – mainly for Air Force applications.

Zac DiVencenzo and Dan Fernback, Juggerbot3D’s founders and owners, finalized the acquisition of the 24,000-square-foot facility located at 8469 Southern Blvd. in Boardman. Previously home to Spirex and Xaloy, the building was purchased to accommodate JuggerBot’s expanding footprint in large-format additive manufacturing.

Currently headquartered in the Youngstown Business Incubator’s Tech Block Building #5, JuggerBot3D occupies around 5,000 square feet there, with plans to double that space. “This expansion will be critical for our current team and future hires,” said DiVencenzo, the company’s President. However, the existing space is insufficient to support the growth in their product line, as well as the new projects in the pipeline, according to Fernback, Vice President.

“In the past six to nine months, it became clear that we needed more room,” DiVencenzo said. “We’re essentially at capacity for our current production setup. This new space will allow us to build larger equipment as we continue to scale.”

Earlier this year, JuggerBot3D secured a $4 million contract with the Air Force Research Laboratory and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base to develop specialized equipment, adding further impetus for expansion.

Working closely with the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber and Platz Realty Group, DiVencenzo and Fernback identified the Southern Boulevard property as ideal for long-term use. Initially leasing the space in May, JuggerBot3D always planned on acquiring the building, which DiVencenzo described as a “diamond in the rough”, to support its expansion.

With company growth accelerating, Fernback said, “We’ll likely need another building before long.” DiVencenzo echoed this sentiment, adding that Yo Industrial Holdings was also created to support other businesses in the Mahoning Valley, aligning with their commitment to local economic development. Recently celebrating a decade in business, JuggerBot sees this as an opportunity not only for their own expansion but also for fostering growth among other companies in the region.

“This is our time to demonstrate our growth while creating a space for others to expand alongside us,” DiVencenzo said. He added that the cohabitation model is beneficial for businesses still scaling up and not yet ready for large properties.

Currently, 75% of the Boardman building’s space is occupied, and Fernback anticipates JuggerBot3D will soon require the remainder. Despite this expansion, JuggerBot has no plans to vacate its YBI headquarters downtown. “Our current setup downtown is perfect for our immediate needs,” Fernback stated.
