Jinqi Toy Company 3D prints more than 30,000 toys every day
70% of the popular 'dinosaur egg' toys are exported from China to America and Europe
The use of 3D printing for consumer goods, such as toys, has been increasing rapidly – especially in countries like China. For example, the popular ‘dinosaur egg’ – created by Jinqi Toy Company, in Yiwu (the ‘world’s supermarket’), in China – has become a major sensation across the United States and Europe. The company produces about 30,000 of these toys, daily, with 70% destined for international markets.

The popularity of the ‘dinosaur egg’ recently led to a supply shortage during the busy Black Friday and holiday shopping seasons. “Some customers went straight to the factory and packed the products directly off the production line,” said Zeng Hao from Jinqi Toy Company, who attributed the toy’s success to its creative design, intricate colors, and high level of ‘playability’, which resonates with European and American consumers who enjoy assembling and disassembling toys for hands-on engagement.
Founded in late 2023, Jinqi has rapidly risen to prominence as a leader in 3D printed toy production. “The number of 3D printers in the factory has rapidly increased from 500 at the beginning of the year to more than 3,500 at present, and the number of exported products has surpassed 20 million since the start of 2024,” said Zeng. He added that orders are already scheduled through mid-2025, and the company plans to expand its fleet of 3D printers to 10,000.
The Chinese State Council approved a comprehensive plan to deepen international trade reforms in Yiwu. The plan focuses on promoting reforms through increased openness, including initiatives like innovating market procurement trade mechanisms, fostering import trade, enhancing comprehensive bonded zone functionality, and strengthening cross-border e-commerce regulations.
Looking ahead, Zeng noted that Jinqi is “actively developing new materials to overcome the brittle and fragile characteristics of the current materials to improve the durability of their 3D printed toys.”
