Janne and Laura Kyttanen Launch Pixsweet 3D Printed Ice Pops at Dodger’s Stadium

After a few months of incubation, Janne Kyttanen and wife Laura officially launched their Pixsweet startup at Dodger’s Stadium season opening, in front of over 45,000 people. While still in beta, the custom 3D printed ice pop online platform seems headed off to a good start.
While he is not sufficiently recognized for this, Kyttanen was – almost 15 years ago – the very first designer to envision consumer application for 3D printing, even in the food segment. He himself agrees that he did this 20 years too soon, however judging by the number of ventures that have followed in this area, and the many more that are emerging every day, the time for the full realization of this vision is getting closer.
We are not the only ones to think so. Janne’s wife Laura ditched a steady corporate career to follow this dream and jump into the unknown in a new startup just a few days after giving birth to their first child. Pixsweet is a very practical application of Janne’s initial vision and, judging by the reception at Dodger’s Stadium, could be finally headed for the recognition it deserves.
After all the Dodgers won their last World Series in 1988, more or less when 3D printing was invented. It is about time that both dreams come true.

“So proud of this one. It takes a lot of courage to ditch a steady corporate career, jump into the unknown, marry a lunatic, have a baby, take just a weekend of after giving birth and jump straight into a startup doing something totally new…a nice shot I took on Monday during our Pixsweet launch at the Dodgers stadium.” Janne Kyttanen.
This is how to create (and order) your custom Pixsweet Ice Pops:
1. Learn + Get Inspired
First, we suggest looking around and gaining inspiration from the designs already created on the site. It’s the perfect place to start and you may find something you love already to customize with your name, a special date, or a hashtag
2. Open your mind
Open your mind up to the sweet possibilities! Love unicorns? Great! Click here to see our Pixsweet Unicorn (We call her Mabel) as a start or enter “unicorn” here to see all the magical images you could create in digital ice.
3. Pick the right shape
When you search for shapes, several may come up to choose from. You can pick your favorite and move it around easily on the PixStix. This is where you are the designer! We won’t tell you what to do but we will offer suggestions and cautions if the shape is not fitting properly or looks like it may not make a great end product. We want you to be happy with the results but Pixsweet puts you in the driver’s seat as the creative ice pop mastermind.
