# Investment injection sets Additive Drives on growth push

[Additive Drives, developers of additively manufactured electric motor components](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/additive-drives/), has had a round of fresh investment as it takes on the next phase of its global energy consumption reduction mission.

Private equity firm Nordic Alpha Partners has acquired a significant minority stake in the German company, investing a “mid-double-digit million euro figure”, while existing investor [AM Ventures has also committed new capital having participated in the company’s seed round at its founding in 2020](https://www.voxelmatters.com/additive-drives-gmbh-secures-e1-5m-seed-investment-from-am-ventures/).

Additive Drives manufactures customized, high-performance 3D printed electric motor technology and has an impressive client list that includes some of the world’s largest blue-chip companies, such as Amazon, Airbus, Audi, Schaeffler, and BMW. [It’s grown to 70+ employees in just over five years](https://www.voxelmatters.com/additive-drives-introduces-highly-efficient-3d-printed-windings-for-electric-motors/).

The company claims to deliver up to 98% energy efficiency for its industrial customers, lowering overall energy loss by 70%. It produces next-generation electric motors using its innovative proprietary 3D tech, in combination with conventional manufacturing processes.

Increasing geopolitical pressures on supply chains have strengthened Additive Drives’ position, thanks to its ability to manufacture motors without rare-earth materials, thereby reducing its dependency on external factors and increasing demand for its magnet-free designs and components. Energy efficiency requirements from intensive boom industries such as AI data centers, quantum computing, eMobility, and robotics have also contributed to the success and growth of its scalable solutions.

Thanks to its AM capabilities, Additive Drives can manufacture prototypes in just 21 days and offer order quantities from as low as a single unit to 10,000.

“We wanted to work with Nordic Alpha Partners because they have a unique toolkit for industrial scaling and navigating industrial transformations,” stated Philipp Arnold , Chief Financial Officer at Additive Drives. “We have been cash-positive from early on, and we were looking for an operational partner that could really enable us to tap into hypergrowth and expand globally even faster.”

Nikolaj Magne Larsen, Partner at Nordic Alpha Partners, added: “It is truly rare to see a founder team build something so pioneering and at the same time have such a strong financial performance less than five years after inception. It requires them to make great decisions consistently, and that’s what they’ve done.”

“Additive Drives is a prime example of the innovative power of the German Mittelstand,” commented Arno Held, Managing Partner at AM Ventures. “We are proud to have supported the team from day one, building a technology leader in e-mobility.”
