Intech Additive Solutions, an Indian company specialized in metal additive manufacturing, has unveiled a new series of metal 3D printers, called the iFusion series. The metal AM systems are fully designed and manufactured at Intech Additive Solutions’ facility in Bangalore.

Formerly known as Intech DMLS, Intech Additive Solutions is understandably excited to be bringing a “made in India” metal 3D printer series to the local market. The company, founded in 2012, has been a leading player in India’s bourgeoning metal AM industry, offering end-to-end solutions to customers in the aerospace, automotive, engineering and medical markets.

The newly launched iFusion metal 3D printer series consists of the iFusion SF1 and the iFusion LFMulti. The iFusion SF1 is a more compact metal AM system which is designed for used in R&D labs, research institutions, universities and other educational contexts. The iFusion LFMulti, for its part, is a larger system equipped with multiple lasers that is suited for industrial metal AM applications.

“The iFusion series of metal 3D printers, based on the Selective Laser Melting technology and the first of its kind in India, are designed for high precision, stability, reliability and to deliver unmatched performance with higher build rates,” explained Sridhar Balaram, MD, CEO of Intech Additive Solutions. “These cost-effective machines are part of Intech’s 3D eco system with softwares bundled in for machine parameter optimization and build process being sold as a package. The overall target of Intech is to reduce the cost of acquisition, cost of operations and first time right with a quick go to market.”

Intech Additive Solutions’ engineers put in over 30,000 hours of research and development time over the past 36 months to bring the iFusion series to market. To date, the company has 3D printed over 800 parts using its locally manufactured systems, using various metal materials.

The iFusion hardware is supported by AMOptoMet, a software platform developed in-house by Intech Additive Solutions. The company also adds that it is currently developing another platform, AMBuilder, which will round out the company’s metal AM offering in India.

The new metal 3D printer series is currently being showcased at Imtex 2020, the Indian Metal Forming Exhibition.
