Insight Surgery, a personalized surgical technology specialist, has successfully closed a $2.5 million Series A equity funding round, with Nodenza Venture Partners leading the investment. The funding arrives on the heels of FDA 510(k) clearance for Insight’s surgical guides tailored for orthopedic and orthopedic-oncology procedures. These developments set the stage for the company’s strategic expansion across the United States, aiming to make personalized surgical solutions more accessible.

Henry Pinchbeck, CEO of Insight Surgery, emphasized the company’s broader mission: “Our mission is to make advanced surgical planning tools accessible and scalable across the US healthcare system. This investment allows us to accelerate our plan to enable every orthopedic surgeon in the US to have easy access to Personalized Surgical devices within surgically meaningful timelines.”

Insight Surgery’s proprietary platform, EmbedMed, digitizes the surgical planning process by transforming patient scan data into customized surgical plans. Surgeons can evaluate various pre-operative strategies, with output available in digital and physical formats (read: 3D printed), including patient-specific surgical guides. These guides are delivered within ten working days from Insight’s FDA-registered and ISO 13485-certified facilities, streamlining the preparation process and enhancing surgical precision.

Insight Surgery has laid a solid foundation for US operations with the recent opening of a state-of-the-art cleanroom manufacturing facility at the Texas Medical Center in Houston, which the Series A funding will help to enhance. The company has gained traction through strategic collaborations, notably with Ricoh USA and leading surgeons at prestigious medical institutions such as the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, the University Hospitals of Chicago, the University of Florida Health, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

This latest funding will be instrumental in scaling operations. Plans are to establish two additional manufacturing hubs on the East and West Coasts. These expansions are part of a broader initiative to double Insight’s US workforce and further integrate its technology into the healthcare ecosystem.

According to Dr Adam Levin, a leading musculoskeletal oncology surgeon, “Insight’s technology makes it possible for my colleagues and me to operate with greater precision and speed, directly improving patient outcomes and reducing the likelihood of costly complications. This means fewer revisions, shorter operative times, and faster recoveries for hospitals and providers. It’s a rare example of a surgical innovation that’s both clinically and economically compelling.”

Insight’s approach enhances surgical outcomes and delivers economic value to hospitals. By minimizing operative times, improving workflow efficiency, and reducing the rates of complications and readmissions, the technology presents a compelling case for widespread adoption.
