India’s first ever 3D printing school in the foothills of Himalayas

The Art of Making Foundation was started in 2020 by Shweta Thapa, Col. Milan Thapa and Swati Suman. The organization is a global non-profit (Registered as Trust under Indian Trust Act) working towards dedicated STEAM ( Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) education for school & College students, women, and rural artisans. The training center has its base located in the foothills of the Himalayas, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. The Art of Making Foundation has trained over 370 students, 27 Teachers, and 8 rural women so far.
3D printing is no longer a new technology for manufacturing purposes. Industries like Healthcare, Automobiles, Aerospace, Research & development have been extensively using this technology for the last 3 decades.
Although in India, the user base of this technology is restricted to prototyping only, and now with the reduced cost of 3D printers & raw materials many industries are considering batch production using this technology.
One of the unique things which Art of Making does is skill development of women & girls in 3D printing and then these girls manufacture eco-friendly gifts, toys, models, and prototypes at their production unit.
