HP showcases Its production-ready commercial 3D printing system at formnext

HP Inc. today will showcase the world’s first production-ready commercial 3D printing system, the HP Jet Fusion 3D 4200 Printer, at formnext powered by TCT, an industry-leading event held in Frankfurt from November 15 to 18. formnext draws more than 270 exhibiting companies and thousands of visitors from across the globe.

Co-development customer installations

The HP Jet Fusion 3D 4200 Printer is designed for prototyping and short-run manufacturing needs, with high productivity to meet same-day demands at the lowest cost per part. Several HP co- development partners including Jabil, Materialise and Shapeways, will receive the first installations of the HP Jet Fusion 3D 4200 Printer in the coming weeks.

Materials innovation

Along with product installations, HP materials innovation is underway with new partners such as BASF announcing commitment to the HP Open Materials program, and Evonik Industries, a world leader in specialty chemicals based in Germany, introducing the first certified plastic material to emerge from the HP Open Platform. Its new PA-12 VESTOSINT powder will be available for HP Jet Fusion 3D Printing Solution customers. In addition, Arkema, a leading specialty chemicals and advanced materials company based in France, honored HP with its Breakthrough and Visionary Innovation Award.

Channel development

•   Kaut Bullinger, specialized reseller for office technology, engineering and imaging
•   Solidpro, one of the leading 3D CAD/CAM resellers in German-speaking countries

Once these companies and other German resellers expected to work with HP, and complete the HP 3D Print Specialization Application and requirements, they become an HP authorized partner. Authorized partners will sell and service the entire portfolio of HP’s 3D printing solutions and accessories across Germany.

Based on internal testing and public data, HP Jet Fusion 3D printing solution average printing cost-per-part is half the cost of comparable FDM & SLS printer solutions from USD 100,000 to USD 300,000 on the market as of April 2016. Cost analysis based on: standard solution configuration price, supplies price, and maintenance costs recommended by manufacturer. Cost criteria: printing 1-2 buckets per day/ 5 days per week over 1 year of 30-gram parts at 10% packing density using the powder reusability ratio recommended by the manufacturer.
