At Rapid + TCT 2026 in Boston, HP is unveiling a series of developments across its additive manufacturing portfolio, covering the new HP Multi Jet Fusion 1200 compact printer, productivity and materials upgrades to existing polymer platforms, expanded material options for Metal Jet, and the general availability of its high-temperature filament system in North America. The announcements coincide with the company marking a decade since it entered the additive manufacturing market.

A compact entry point for industrial MJF

The headline hardware introduction is the HP Multi Jet Fusion 1200 3D Printer Solution, a smaller-format system built around the same core MJF technology used across HP’s existing polymer portfolio. The printer offers a 12-liter build volume and includes automated processes for part unpacking, material mixing, and build preparation. Every unit ships with Magics Print for HP, a build-preparation software developed with Materialise as part of the CO-AM ecosystem, covering nesting, part orientation, and build layout.

HP is positioning the MJF 1200 as a tool for engineering teams that need functional polymer parts produced in-house without requiring a dedicated AM facility. Early testers include Anima Design, whose Design Prototyper Eric Paris said the system “delivers industrial-grade parts in a compact format,” enabling design validation without disrupting existing workflows. Manufacturing and Prototyping Manager Yoel Cruz added that seeing their feedback “reflected in the final printer” gives them confidence that the technology “will be a practical and exciting addition to any engineering space.” LualdiLabs, which is participating as a beta tester for medical applications, describes the printer as a step toward integrating manufacturing closer to the point of treatment. Full commercial availability is set for early 2027.

HP Jet Fusion 5600 Series

5600 series scales up with Dual Tone

On the existing 5600 platform, HP is introducing a high-productivity print mode that increases output by 20% and aims to lower the cost per part at volume. The series is also gaining support for HP 3D High Reusability PA 12 Glass Beads, a material suited to stiff, dimensionally stable parts.

Also new is HP Multi Jet Fusion Dual Tone technology, which uses HP’s agent-based printing capabilities to produce parts in two color tones—white and grey—enabling the integration of surface textures, QR codes, markings, and labels directly into the print. The 5600 series is the first platform in the HP portfolio to receive this capability, with availability planned for late 2026.

Alex Moñino, Senior Vice President and General Manager of HP Additive Manufacturing Solutions, noted that the company’s focus remains on lowering cost per part and simplifying workflows, citing ADDMAN’s recent acquisition of 13 new HP systems as evidence of continued customer investment in the platform.

On the metal side, HP is expanding the material options available for the Metal Jet S100 with three additions targeting high-growth industrial sectors: copper for thermal management and electrification applications, M247LC nickel-based superalloy for high-temperature aerospace components, and tungsten carbide-cobalt (WC-Co) for tooling.

HP is also introducing a powder-handling collaboration with Volkmann GmbH, whose vPort system integrates with the Metal Jet S100 workflow to enable semi-automated depowdering, cleaning, powder recovery, and refilling within a contained environment. The vPort is being offered as an entry-level powder management option alongside HP’s fully automated solutions and will be available through Volkmann in the United States, Canada, and Europe.

Separately, the HP Industrial Filament 3D Printer 600 High Temperature (HT), first introduced in November 2025, is now generally available in the United States and Canada. The open-platform filament system targets high-temperature polymer applications across aerospace, oil and gas, medical, automotive, and industrial manufacturing. HP confirmed that the first unit has been sold and installed, with Haelvoet’s Head of R&D, David Vannieuwenhuyse, citing the system’s ability to shorten design-test-iterate cycles and reduce time-to-market.
