Digital Metal, the 3D printing division of Swedish metal powder group Höganäs, is extending the range of available material for its 3D printing technology. Titanium alloy Ti6Al4V will be now offered on top of already existing Stainless Steel 316L and 17-4PH.

Ti6Al4V is widely known and used in the additive manufacturing industry. It combines high strength, high hardness and ductility with high corrosion resistance. It also means a 45% weight reduction compared to conventional steel. Digital Metal’s Ti6Al4V offer follows ISO 22068. Typical values can be seen in the table below.

Digital Metal’s unique binder jetting technology enables 3D printing of small metal components with a combination of extremely thin walls, high detail accuracy, high surface finish and tight tolerances. It is especially relevant in the industrial arena, where the design freedom provided by 3D metal printing makes it possible to quickly and cost effectively produce e.g. hollowed and meshed metal components with undercuts, ducts, cavities and internal structures.

The company primarily offers 3D metal printing through contract services, working according to a simple 6-step process (Get in touch and tell us about your project – Send us your CAD file and we provide you with a cost estimate – You review the estimate and we agree upon the project scope – We produce the metal part, in the quantity required – When ready, we ship it to you at any location around the world – We contact you shortly afterwards to follow up) that moves swiftly from first contact to finished product.
