Here’s Vertico EVA, a €50,000 construction 3D printer

Now there is a robotic entry level R&D system for cement too

Vertico, one of several developers and manufacturers of robotic construction 3D printing platforms, is showing off Vertico EVA, the first entry-level construction 3D printer, priced at $50,000 and targeting R&D activities by companies and universities.

As construction 3D printing emerges, in just a few short years, from a “gimmick”, as it has been defined by some, to a real and very serious global market and opportunity (as we had forecast in 2017), the many construction 3D printers available on the market today begin to take the form of finished products. However, Vertico is the first company to offer a plug&play R&D robotic construction 3D printer at an entry-level price.

This will significantly simplify the life of those companies and universities that want to focus on cement 3D printing applications rather than have to develop the technology in-house. Something similar happened in the bioprinting industry—which, curiously enough, leverages a very similar pneumatic extrusion process for its entry-level systems—where CELLINK was able to build a global business by being the first company to effectively democratize the technology by introducing an entry-level system for universities (and some medical companies).

The Vertico EVA R&D 3D concrete printing setup includes a Pump (MAI Pictor 3D), all hoses and connections are provided and can achieve a 1.45-meter reach (with a spherical build volume), with 10 kg payload, and 0.05mm position repeatability.

No on-site installation is required and the company promises a short delivery time of fewer than 10 weeks. The slicing software is provided (with no license fee), as well as a basic material mix recipe at no cost. Vertico also includes one ton of starter material.

The machine comes on an 80cm x 120cm standard europallet and is easy to move and set up wherever its needed with a standard pallet jack. Currently, the only available option for electricity is 230v only option. Vertico also offers other custom options: the larger EVA 2400 has a 1.65m reach and 20 kg payload. Price Robot training and printing training can be provided online.
