Here is EOS’s new Integra P 400, a North American-exclusive production system

EOS North America is introducing the Integra P 400 polymer Additive Manufacturing (AM) platform developed to meet customer demands specifically for the North American market. The fast, flexible powder bed AM platform gives organizations the ability to process applications using a wide range of materials that offer characteristics such as high abrasion or chemical resistance, low-temperature performance, high elasticity, and transparency.

Built for high-productivity, the Integra P 400’s industry-best scanning speed results from a combination of technologies such as sky-writing, a 120 Watt CO2 laser, and digital galvanometers delivering speeds averaging 12,700 millimeters per second – a 40-50% improvement compared to existing platforms. The new machine also operates at temperatures up to 300°C, and has an innovative dual-roller recoating system to apply material faster with the flexibility to process a wide range of powdered materials, including high-performance TPU, TPE, and the new HT-23.

“The Integra P 400 marks an important milestone for Additive Manufacturing,” said Donnie Vanelli, COO at EOS North America. “Our customers have already expressed their positive feedback with the new system by enabling more precise process monitoring to meeting stringent quality requirements along with an open, user-friendly software interface.”

The Integra P 400 is equipped with EOSPRINT 2 software, an intuitive, open data preparation tool that takes design concepts from CAD to print. Winner of The iF Design Award, EOSPRINT 2 defines the exact path of the laser in the build process and increases the quality of the surface finish, tensile strength and build speed.

Honeywell and CRP USA among first adopters

Demand for a platform with the capabilities of the Integra P 400 has generated immediate interest from organizations, like Honeywell, who are eager to become early adopters. Another early adopter is CRP USA, a cutting-edge additive manufacturing and high precision CNC machining company.

“During the past several years we have evaluated and purchased new and used laser additive polymer systems.  Most new systems showed only small incremental innovation, and some appeared to be going a bit backward,” said Stewart Davis, Director of Operations, CRP USA. “At our first evaluation of the Integra P 400, with all of the covers removed, it was clear we were seeing a machine targeted toward our needs.  Reliability, serviceability, and material flexibility are all addressed in a straightforward package.  We are looking forward to its arrival, and plan to leverage it within our Additive Manufacturing processes to help us continue providing new and innovative solutions to our customers.”

A North American exclusive

The Integra P 400 was designed, engineered and manufactured by EOS North America, and will be produced at its Pflugerville, Texas, Technical Center near Austin. Technical specifications of the new system include:

Build volume: 420 mm x 420 mm x 500 mm
Laser type: 120 Watt CO2 (70 Watt available upon request)
Build Rate: 25 mm/hour (typical)
Layer thickness: Capability from 0.10 mm to 0.18 mm per layer
Scanning speed: Up to 12,700 mm/s (500 in/sec)
Twin roller design: Dual-roller system
Quick exchangeable laser window
IR Cameras (real-time thermal imaging of process area): Most accurate, monitorable operation
Software: EOSPRINT 2.0 and EOSYSTEM: Open software and intuitive data preparation and machine operation with EOSAME

Optional accessories include additional exchangeable frames, exchangeable laser window units, additional multi-box feed system units, and a reduced build volume adaptor that is currently under development.
