German chemicals company Henkel Corporation is expanding its novel Recycling Program for its additive manufacturing customers. The program, established in collaboration with TerraCycle, will enable Henkel clients to easily recycle 3D printing materials and adhesives from its Loctite brands, pushing sustainable 3D printing further ahead.

Henkel Recycling program loctite

In recent years, Henkel has placed a growing focus on the development of adhesives and materials for the 3D printing sector, working with leaders in the industry to develop materials that meet industry production needs. The company offers a broad portfolio of materials for 3D printing applications and post-processing bonding, coating and cleaning solutions. Now, products from its Loctite range can be recycled.

The recycling program was formed in collaboration with TerraCycle, the first company to offer a recycling solution for anaerobic adhesive packaging. Since then, the company has also developed a recycling solution for light cure adhesive technologies packaging as well as instant adhesives and cyanoacrylates. Through the program, Henkel’s 3D printing customers will be provided with a recycling box in which they can deposit used containers of UV curable resins and cyanoacrylate-based adhesives. When the boxes are full, the contents can be recycled by TerraCycle.

“Our goal is to be the customers’ champion for all industrial additive manufacturing solutions, and through our partnership with TerraCycle, we also make sustainability simpler for our customers,” said Philipp Loosen, Global Head of 3D Printing, Henkel Adhesives Technologies. “As a company with a strong commitment to sustainability and innovation, we are pleased to offer an environmental solution to customers who share our corporate values and use our adhesive products to spur innovation and transform the future of industrial manufacturing.”

“Through the Adhesive Recycling Program, Henkel is offering its customers with 3D printing operations a unique opportunity to divert this hard-to-recycle industrial waste from landfills,” added Tom Szaky founder and CEO of TerraCycle. “We look forward to growing this revolutionary program, and continuing to provide consumers with a powerful, sustainable option to reduce their environmental impact.”
