Hadrian launches additive manufacturing division to expand U.S. defense production capacity

New unit builds on company’s funding round at $1.6 billion valuation to accelerate domestic factory expansion and industrial-scale additive manufacturing

Hadrian, a California-based advanced manufacturing company specializing in AI-driven production systems, is expanding into additive manufacturing with the creation of Hadrian Additive, a new division focused on delivering scalable, production-ready capacity to the U.S. defense industrial base and allied partners. The division represents a key use of the company’s latest funding, raised at a $1.6 billion valuation.

Capital supports industrial-scale AM
The new capital round was led by T. Rowe Price, with participation from Altimeter, D1 Capital Partners L.P., StepStone Group, 1789 Capital, Founders Fund, Lux Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Construct Capital, Washington Harbour Partners LP, RTX Ventures, Haystack, KAS Venture Partners, Tru Arrow Partners, and existing investors.

Hadrian reports that the funding will accelerate expansion of its high-throughput, U.S.-based factories, workforce growth, and deployment of the artificial intelligence (AI), software, and automation systems that underpin its manufacturing operations. The company is using part of the investment to establish Hadrian Additive, which extends its Opus factory platform to include additive manufacturing systems engineered for qualification, repeatability, and sustained throughput.

“America’s defense industrial base needs additive manufacturing that works in real production, not just in prototypes,” said Chris Power, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Hadrian. “We’re building this capacity the same way we build our factories—engineered for qualification, throughput, and speed—so critical programs can scale when it matters most.”

Expanding the U.S. industrial base

Hadrian Additive integrates additive manufacturing directly into the company’s existing factory architecture, enabling defense and aerospace programs to move from validated designs into repeatable, at-scale production. Initial additive capacity is expected to come online in 2026 as part of Hadrian’s expanding domestic factory network, which currently includes three advanced manufacturing facilities totaling approximately 600,000 square feet in California and Arizona.

Last week Hadrian received a visit from U.S. Ambassador to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, to Hadrian, joined by Ambassador Nicholas Merrick of the Czech Republic, Ambassador Joseph Popolo of the Netherlands, and Ambassador Tom Rose of Poland.

The new division will be led by Matthew Parker, Vice President of Additive Manufacturing at Hadrian. Parker, an engineering and operations executive with experience in industrial additive manufacturing and large-format additive deployment, will oversee the division’s focus on reliability, quality, and traceability for defense and national security programs.

“Additive manufacturing only becomes strategic when it’s industrialized,” Parker said. “Hadrian Additive is designed as a production system from day one, integrated with our factory stack and capable of scaling as demand grows.”

Hadrian describes its model as “Factories as a Service” (FaaS), combining automation, AI, and a rapidly trained workforce to deliver mission-critical components, assemblies, and full product lines with speed and reliability. The company positions this approach as part of a broader effort to meet accelerating demand for domestic production capacity across aerospace, defense, and critical infrastructure sectors.
