GE Additive signs MOU with South Korea’s KAIA and IIACI
MOU to reinforce cooperation in the development of additive manufacturing in the aerospace industry through education and consulting
Korea Aerospace Industries Association (KAIA) Chairman Jowon Kim and Incheon Industry-Academy Collaboration Institute (IIACI) director Chang-Kyung Ryoo signed a Memorandum of Understanding with GE Additive’s APAC general manager Czek haan Tan on Monday October 15, 2018.
Oh-jung Kwon, vice chairman of KAIA, Chang-Kyung Ryoo, director of IIACI, and executives from the organization and the company attended the ceremony to strengthen cooperation in additive manufacturing for the aerospace industry.
Key areas of cooperation include;
- Providing additive manufacturing education to Korean manufacturing companies in the aerospace industry
- Offering GE Additive’s consulting service AddWorks for defining the business case for additive manufacturing, designing for additive, making parts, enabling production, and setting up quality programs
- Recommending KAIA members join GE Additive’s Manufacturing Partner Network, based on assessment of their capabilities.
GE Additive’s Manufacturing Partner Network aims to create an open marketplace that will accelerate both supply and demand for additive manufacturing. The network takes an ecosystem approach to addressing several commercial challenges to help the additive industry reach its next inflection point.
“We hope that the agreement with GE Additive will serve as an opportunity for domestic aerospace companies to expand their capabilities in manufacturing aircraft parts and expand into the global market,” said Oh-jung Kwon, vice chairman of KAIA.
