# From speed to speed, Michael Kenworthy joins VulcanForms at CTO

VulcanForms appointed Michael Kenworthy as its Chief Technology Officer, bringing in a manufacturing executive with more than two decades of experience scaling complex production technologies across aerospace and advanced manufacturing.

Kenworthy has worked with many of America's most advanced AM technologies and AM adopter companies. and[ he is among the most knowledgeable figures in the US industrial AM landscape](https://www.voxelmatters.com/of-death-and-rebirth-at-formnext-2024/). He joins from Relativity Space, where he served as Vice President of Engineering. Before that, he was [Chief Product Officer at Seurat Technologies](https://www.voxelmatters.com/michael-kenworthy-joins-seurat-at-chief-product-officer/) and spent more than six years at Divergent as Chief Technology Officer, leading development and deployment of the company's digital production system. Earlier in his career, he held engineering and product leadership roles at GE Aviation and Honeywell. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from MIT.

![Uncover the journey of Michael Kenworthy as he joins VulcanForms to drive innovation in aerospace and manufacturing technologies.](https://www.voxelmatters.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/VulcanForms_IMG_0357-scaled.jpg)"Joining VulcanForms is an opportunity to work on something rare," Kenworthy said. "The foundation that has been built here lets customers solve problems that conventional manufacturing simply can't. I'm excited to work with the team to advance the technology, expand what the platform can do, and help customers manufacture increasingly complex products with greater speed, consistency, and scale."

In his new role, Kenworthy will oversee VulcanForms' technology strategy, product development, and engineering roadmap, working across manufacturing, software, quality, and commercial teams to expand process capabilities, drive automation, and increase production efficiency.

Founded by industry visionaries such as MIT Professor John Hart, [VulcanForms combines laser powder bed fusion-based additive manufacturing with post-processing, automation](https://www.voxelmatters.com/vulcanforms-to-scale-further-following-220m-funding-round/), and software into what it describes as an integrated manufacturing platform. The company operates out of its VulcanOne facility in Devens, Massachusetts, serving customers in aerospace, defense, medical, energy, transportation, and industrial markets.

"VulcanForms was founded to rethink how products are made," said Kevin Kassekert, Chief Executive Officer of VulcanForms. "By combining production systems, automation, software, quality, and operations into a single manufacturing ecosystem, we've built a first-principles platform capable of solving some of the most challenging production problems in the industry. Mike has spent his career building and scaling engineering organizations across aerospace, energy, and advanced manufacturing, and he knows what it takes to push production technology forward at scale."

Kenworthy's appointment comes as U.S. manufacturers are under growing pressure to secure domestic production capacity and reduce lead times for high-performance components. VulcanForms has positioned its integrated model as a response to those constraints, combining digital process control with industrial-scale output.
