Freemelt has received an order for a Freemelt ONE system from a company in the United States of America with an order value close to $0.5 million US. The EB-PBF system will be used for material development for new applications, and it will be delivered during the first quarter in 2022.

“This is the first order for a Freemelt ONE system outside of Europe which is an important milestone for Freemelt. With this order we now enter the North American market which we expect to become an important market for Freemelt,” commented Ulric Ljungblad, CEO and co-founder of Freemelt.

Freemelt is a high-tech growth company whose ground-breaking solution creates new opportunities for rapid growth in additive manufacturing. The Company’s protected technology – which already is available – takes 3D printing to a new level and provides new opportunities for printing products in a cost-effective way and to a consistent and high quality that previously was impossible. By choosing an open-source solution, the conditions are created for strong growth, and the Company looks to expand towards manufacturing markets, moving forward.

EBM, or EB-PBF, technology is one of the most productive metal 3D printing processes currently available commercially. Unlike most SLM (L-PBF) processes, it enables the production of stacked parts at a higher speed than laser-based processes. Until recently, only Arcam (now GE Additive) offered commercial EBM systems, having established near total dominance of this market segment. Lately a few new companies, like Freemelt, Wayland Additive and JEOL have brought EBM systems to market, which is likely to lead to more widespread adoption of the technology overall.

Just a couple of months ago, Freemelt secured another sale with the Polytechnic University of Turin in Italy, where system will be used for new materials development.
