Freemelt joins Georgia Tech Manufacturing 4.0 Consortium
With the aim of accelerating the adoption of AM in North American industry
Freemelt-Americas, a metal 3D printing technology developer, has signed a Membership Agreement with the Georgia Tech Manufacturing 4.0 Consortium, which drives the development of innovative manufacturing technologies to accelerate the adoption of additive manufacturing by industry in North America.
The Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) is one of the leading research universities in North America. Georgia Tech has deep experience in the research of advanced and additive manufacturing technologies, supported by the US government, industry, and the education system. It facilitates a wide range of AM technologies and has utilized a 6 kW Freemelt ONE open E-PBF (Electron Powder Bed Fusion) system since 2022.
Georgia Tech Manufacturing 4.0 Consortium is a membership-based consortium that brings together industry, academia, and government to develop and deploy cutting-edge advanced manufacturing technologies, to foster innovation and strengthen the competitiveness of the American industry.
“We are honored to be new members of Georgia Tech Manufacturing 4.0 Consortium, where members and experts with diverse backgrounds collaborate to solve key manufacturing challenges in the United States. Members collaborate to identify barriers, discuss possible solutions, and evaluate plans to facilitate the transition and adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies, including additive manufacturing,” said Darin Everett, Regional President of Freemelt-Americas. “Through this membership, Freemelt will be exposed to new business opportunities in our focus industries of defense, energy, and MedTech. Additionally, we will have access to Georgia Tech’s first-class advanced manufacturing facilities, which will increase our capacity to support US customers with material process development and application development, for an efficient transition to serial production via additive manufacturing and our E-PBF AM technology.”
