Forward AM Launches Daylight Product Line for 3D printing

Forward AM, BASF 3D Printing Solutions’ brand, launched a new product portfolio name the Engineering Plastic Daylight Ultracur3D. This line is created as part of a long-standing strategic partnership with Photocentric, a leading manufacturer of 3D printing equipment and photopolymer resin materials. The first two materials in the line exhibit high stiffness while retaining flexibility. They are now available for purchase.

The new products meet customers’ need for demanding applications in 3D printing. Prototyping, engineering and serial production of automotive parts are all target markets for the materials.

One of the innovations inherent in the new products is that they are designed to pair with Photocentric’s unique LCD Daylight technology. This tech uses the Liquid Crystal Magna machine to make large-volume high-resolution printing possible.

Paul Holt, Photocentric’s managing director, was enthusiastic about the new line: “We believe the excellent combination of Forward AM’s expertise in 3D printing  materials, our unique material portfolio, and Photocentric’s advanced printer  technology will open the door to cost-competitive component printing and thus make  the mass-manufacture of functional end-use parts an industrial reality. Consequently, we are jointly introducing a series of materials dedicated and  designed to benefit the customer, with excellent characteristics that perfectly match  the technical capabilities of our partner’s printing machines”, explains François  Minec, Managing Director BASF 3D Printing Solutions. 

“We are excited about launching this great new resin, the Ultracur3D EPD line, with  BASF. Our joint ambition from the outset was to make a significant difference to  industrial manufacturing – not just Additive Manufacturing. Our belief has always  been that as soon as we provide superior final-part characteristics at credible prices,  we will enable the beginning of scaled-up component manufacture. Now for the first  time we are creating a genuine and compelling alternative to conventional injection  molding tooling.”
