# Formnext 2025 marks a decade of growth as AM takes root in industry

[Formnext 2025](https://www.voxelmatters.com/category/events/formnext/) concluded in Frankfurt with record visitor numbers and a broad showcase of innovations that underscored additive manufacturing’s establishment as a mainstream industrial production technology. Held from 18 to 21 November at Messe Frankfurt, the event attracted 38,282 professional visitors—47% from outside Germany—and hosted 804 exhibitors, 61% of which came from abroad.

## Industry adoption gains pace

No industry show can ever fully satisfy all participants, though Formenxt has come close in previous editions. Location, costs, attendance numbers... Now in its 10th year, Formnext has become a central meeting point for manufacturers, engineers, and researchers exploring the industrialization of AM. The 2025 edition demonstrated how the technology has moved beyond prototyping to full-scale production, with exhibitors presenting new systems, materials, and digital solutions designed to improve speed, quality, and cost efficiency.

“The last ten years have been characterized by tremendous technological progress. Additive manufacturing is no longer a promise for the future, but a reality in numerous industries,” said Sascha F. Wenzler, Vice President Formnext at Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH. He added that the fair’s focus is shifting toward solutions that enhance supply chain flexibility and make the technology more accessible to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Petra Haarburger, President of Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH, emphasized Formnext’s role as a collaborative platform: “Formnext shows how important it is to not only make progress visible, but to work together to drive the transformation of industrial manufacturing forward.”

Across the exhibition halls, system manufacturers introduced new production technologies and advanced materials, many of them publicly displayed for the first time. Exhibitors also highlighted digital tools that use artificial intelligence to streamline design, automation, and process monitoring.

## Expanding programs and global engagement

To mark its 10th anniversary, Formnext expanded its supporting program with live AM demonstrations, guided tours, and new award categories. Six winners were recognized during the Formnext Awards ceremony on 20 November: PERFI Technologies (Start-up Award), IAM3DHUB’s “3DMyMask” project (Rookie Award), Laempe Mössner Sinto GmbH ((R)Evolution Award), Hochschule für Gestaltung Schwäbisch Gmünd (Design Award), EOS GmbH (Sustainability Award), and Irena Heuzeroth of SKZ KFE GmbH (AMbassador Award).

Christoph Stüker, Vice President Formnext at Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH, described the event as “far more than just a trade fair; it’s a source of inspiration and home to a steadily growing global fAMily.”

Exhibitors reported strong engagement throughout the four days. “We’ve already experienced a huge rush of visitors since the morning and are spending the day engaged in intensive and productive discussions,” said Stefan Krzykowski, Area Sales Manager at MHG Strahlanlagen GmbH. Graphy CEO Un Seob Sim noted that the fair “has become the right place for presenting real-world, life-impacting applications that will drive the next phase of global 3D-printing innovation.”

## Outlook for 2026

With a gross exhibition space of around 50,000 square meters and international participation at nearly half of total attendance, Formnext reaffirmed its position as the leading global event for AM and advanced industrial production. Presentations from the Industry and Application Stages will be available on demand via Formnext’s digital platforms, including YouTube and Formnext.TV.
