ASFO, part of Italy’s Fomas Group and sister company to metal AM powder producer MIMETE, has received Nadcap re-accreditation for metallic materials manufacturing, serving the aerospace and defense sectors. The approval reaffirms ASFO’s compliance with the highest international standards for quality and process reliability in metal forging and heat treatment operations.

The company achieved the Nadcap “18-Month Merit” status following three consecutive audits with zero non-conformities. This honor, given by the Performance Review Institute, allows the time between re-accreditation audits to increase from 12 to 18 months and is awarded only to suppliers that demonstrate ongoing high quality in management, documentation, and process control.

PRI runs Nadcap (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program) on behalf of major aerospace and defense manufacturers like Airbus, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Rolls-Royce, and Safran. It is a globally recognized cooperative accreditation program. The program standardizes auditing across the supply chain to ensure uniform compliance with demanding technical specifications. For metallic materials producers such as ASFO, Nadcap accreditation covers processes including forging, heat treatment, and non-destructive testing—critical steps in manufacturing components that must withstand extreme performance conditions.

Earning the 18-Month Merit status places ASFO among a small group of suppliers with a proven track record of process consistency and zero audit findings. According to the company, this milestone highlights its continued investment in quality systems and its long-term strategy to serve the aerospace and defense markets.

Fomas Group, headquartered in Osnago, Italy, specializes in the production of forged and rolled steel components for energy, transportation, and aerospace applications. The group has expanded its portfolio in recent years to include advanced metallic powders through MIMETE, supporting the transition toward additive manufacturing and lightweight component production in high-performance industries.

“The Nadcap re-accreditation and merit status confirm our dedication to excellence and reliability in the most demanding sectors,” the company stated. “It reflects the professionalism of our teams and our commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards across all Fomas Group companies.”
