# FKM Sintertechnik is first production partner in voxeljet HSS network

[voxeljet AG](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/voxeljet/) is deepening its existing partnership with [FKM Sintertechnik GmbH](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/fkm-sintertechnik-gmbh/), an industrial 3D printing service based just north of Frankfurt. The announcement, made in time for Formnext 2024, will see FDM Sintertechnik join voxeljet's High Speed Sintering (HSS) polymer production network, building on the ongoing beta program to optimize process parameters for voxeljet's VX1000 HSS.

With a build envelope of 1000 mm x 540 mm x 400 mm, the VX1000 HSS is the largest ink-based polymer 3D printer on the market today and is based on voxeljet's HSS process. This technology combines different approaches to polymer 3D printing, selectively depositing an infrared-absorbing fluid onto a fine layer of polymer powder using an inkjet printhead and then exposing the layer to infrared light to sinter the powder particles. After a layer is complete, the build platform lowers gradually and more powder is deposited and fused. Notably, voxeljet reports that its HSS process has a substantially lower refresh rate for materials compared to SLS platforms and offers advantages when looking at production speeds, dimensional accuracy and cost.

The [partnership between voxeljet and FKM Sintertechnik](https://www.voxelmatters.com/am-service-fkm-sintertechnik-to-install-voxeljet-vx1000-hss-3d-printer/) was announced a year ago, and since then voxeljet has implemented several improvements to its VX1000 HSS platform, including optimizing mechanical part specifications and homogenizing part properties and quality across the build platform. As of last month, [FKM had successfully installed a VX1000 HSS unit](https://www.voxelmatters.com/fkm-additive-installs-voxeljets-vx1000hss-high-speed-sintering-3d-printer/) and its customers can now order 3D printed PA12 components. For PA12, the 3D printing platform has a maximum build volume of 1,000 x 540 x 180 mm.

voxeljet's HSS network has been a collaborative one, connecting AM research groups and specialists—including Evonik, Forward AM, Fraunhofer IPA and more—with the aim of "generating knowledge about 3D printable materials and their sintering strategy for the HSS process". The network also plays a key role in qualifying new materials for voxeljet's AM platform. Up until now, this network has been largely focused on R&D, but FKM has expanded its capabilities, becoming the first production partner offering end-to-end services, from materials research to part production.
