FIT AG has closed Boston Ceramics and is moving its Boston-based 3D printing production capability to their Lupburg facility in Germany. Boston Ceramics was founded by Andrew Jeffrey. After FIT’s acquisition in 2017, Jeffrey had remained as president.

Boston Ceramics’ founder Jeffrey had been active in the ceramics manufacturing field for more than 25 years, having established the Figulo company which was taken over by 3D Systems Corp in 2013. In 2010, he had also Co-founded Viridis, a now-EnvisionTEC-affiliated company specializing in very practical binder jetting for foundry applications using robotic systems.

Boston Ceramics focused on manufacturing high-value quality ceramic objects for the consumer market.

FIT is a leading specialist in additive manufacturing, with a mission is to deliver a perfect component for every specific application every single time. The company has access to a range of 3D printing technologies, such as stereolithography (SLA), laser melting (LM), and selective laser sintering (SLS), as well as numerous conventional production technologies.

On the two new developments in the United States, Carl Fruth, FIT’s founder and CEO, had said that he expected a major market in the USA for FIT’s additive manufacturing capabilities and that the company had established a management team and structure to develop more partnerships with US clients and make further investments.
