# Fifth additive manufacturing map of Brazil counts 249 companies and institutions

Launched on June 1, 2026, during Petrobras' third Additive Manufacturing Workshop, the fifth edition of the [Additive Manufacturing Map of Brazil](http://materiais.luansaldanha.com) from VoxelMatters' partner [Aditiva Brasil](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/aditiva-brasil/) compiled the most extensive overview to date of organizations operating in the Brazilian AM sector.

Brazil has an active additive manufacturing sector, but much of that activity has been difficult to see from outside the country. International coverage has tended to focus on individual projects, equipment installations or industrial applications, without capturing the wider network of companies, research institutions, startups and technology suppliers that support AM adoption across Brazil.

"We stopped asking who has a 3D printer, and started asking who can actually deliver a qualified part," said Luan Saldanha, author of the Map and founder of Aditiva Brasil.

## Mapping a key LATAM ecosystem

The project began in 2024 by asking, "Who is actually making additive manufacturing happen in Brazil?" At the time, companies interested in adopting AM faced a fragmented information environment, and identifying local equipment suppliers, materials specialists, research labs, or qualified service providers required multiple searches and relied heavily on personal networks.

The first edition organized this information into a single reference. Across five editions, the project tracked the appearance of new companies, the expansion of research infrastructure, the growth of specialized startups, and the increasing participation of industrial users, drawing on a proprietary database built with active input from ecosystem participants to keep the documentation current.

The fifth edition identified 249 companies and institutions in total: 92 suppliers of equipment and materials, 84 additive manufacturing service providers, 52 science and technology institutions, and 21 startups. It also listed 14 specialized events that contribute to knowledge exchange and professional networking across the country.

## Learning and implementing

Industry discussion in Brazil once centered on what 3D printing was, what materials could be processed, and which geometries could be manufactured. Those questions still come up, but companies are now spending more time on application selection, return on investment, process qualification, certification, inspection, repeatability and the transition from prototyping to production.

Brazilian research institutions played a significant role in that transition. Universities, innovation institutes and technology centers built capabilities in metal, polymer, ceramic and composite AM while supporting material development, process characterization, inspection and industrial validation—institutions including [SENAI CIMATEC](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/senai-cimatec/) and the Federal University of Uberlândia illustrate how that research infrastructure has translated into industrial-grade capability. Service providers and technology suppliers, meanwhile, have given companies access to these capabilities without requiring an immediate investment in internal equipment.

Brazil already has a significant number of organizations with AM capabilities, but those capabilities are not always efficiently connected to industrial demand. A company searching for a specific technology, material or production capability can still struggle to identify the right partner. Research infrastructure remains underused because companies don't know it exists, and service providers with specialized equipment sometimes have limited access to qualified industrial work.

In a country as large as Brazil, expertise can exist in one region while the industrial need emerges in another, and a digital infrastructure that organizes capabilities by location, technology and organization type can close that gap. How easily participants find one another matters as much as how many participants there are.

For its first four editions, the Additive Manufacturing Map was published only as a downloadable document. But the ecosystem changed faster than the publication cycle: new companies entered the market, providers expanded their technology portfolios, labs installed new systems, and in some cases information collected during research already needed updating before the next edition shipped. That's what pushed the fifth edition onto the Aditiva Brasil digital platform. Instead of relying on static chapters and lists, users can now explore the ecosystem through searchable categories and geographic filters, with the platform built to support continuous updates rather than periodic snapshots.

## Brazil AM matters

For international AM companies, understanding local ecosystems matters because technology adoption depends on more than equipment sales—it depends on application knowledge, technical support, materials availability, qualified service providers, research partnerships, trained professionals and industrial demand. The map gives equipment manufacturers, materials companies, research institutions and investors an entry point for identifying partners and gaps in the Brazilian market.

Professional training, qualification and certification pathways, local supply chains and the number of economically validated applications all still need work. But the foundations for a stronger ecosystem are already in place, and the next phase depends on connecting Brazilian AM organizations more efficiently with each other and with the international AM community.
