FD’s new Filament Market Survey provides unique insights into 3D printing filament industry
Filaments.Directory is following up on its 2016 global market survey by releasing a new set of data that shows the state of the filament market in 2018. The company, which lists all major 3D printing filament products has conducted a market survey on the global 3D printing filament consumer and their buying habits. The survey results give a comprehensive overview of who is buying filaments for 3D printing, how they choose filaments and their usual buying habits (brands, expenditure etc.). The results highlight some major changes in how consumers view and utilise the 3D printing market.
In 2016 Filaments.directory conducted its first 3D printing filament market survey to understand the consumer and their buying habits in this young and fragmented market. The new, 2018 filament market survey is based on its growing number of users as the largest 3D printing materials database. Some of the findings of the survey include a 217% increase in the number of professional 3D printing users compared to the 2016 results, an average monthly budget for filaments of $25.77 and that 17% of users now own 5 or more printers.
The company also released a detailed infographic overview of the entire survey (which can be viewed at the bottom of this page or downloaded in high resolution here). As the largest 3D printing materials database, Filaments.directory is uniquely positioned to provide these insights. Additional information on the constant evolution of the 3D printing filament market can be found using the monthly trends and by subscribing to the Filaments.directory newsletter.
