Farsoon unveils FS191M, compact metal 3D printer with open parameters
Applications for FS191M early adopter program are now open
Industrial polymer and metal additive manufacturing company Farsoon has introduced its newest metal powder bed fusion 3D printer, the FS191M. The new machine marks the next evolution of its FS121M platform, a compact system first launched in 2016, and is ideal for R&D, pilot projects and low-volume production applications. Â
The new FS191M integrates various new features and capabilities designed to enhance output and improve workflows. The machine, though still compact (with an office-friendly footprint under one square meter), has a build volume four times larger than the FS121M, with a cylinder measuring φ191 × 199 mm (5.64 liters). The system also comes with a smaller format for R&D applications, which has a volume of φ78 × 80 mm. Notably, Farsoon specifies that users can switch between these cylinder sizes with ease, facilitating the transition from product development and validation to small series production.Â
“The FS191M builds on the success of our small volume FS121M system, first launched in 2016,” commented Wenyu Guo, Director of Farsoon’s Metal Product Line. “Over the past six years, we’ve worked closely with industrial and research partners to optimize productivity, streamline workflows and expand process capabilities—all while maintaining a low cost of ownership. This approach is enabling us to unlock new markets, including consumer products, tooling and more.”
The FS191M is also an open parameter platform, enabling users to investigate and innovate with various applications and materials through deeper process controls and customization of material settings. This particular feature makes the metal AM platform especially suitable for R&D. To this end, Farsoon also offers a number of add-ons for its compact metal 3D printer, including its Support Reduction System (SRS); High-Resolution Melt Pool Monitoring’ a 3D structured light monitoring system for better z-axis control and minimized recoating defects; a high-temperature build plate capable of reaching 400°C; and advanced optical solutions, such as laser beam shaping, which can take print quality up a level.
Farsoon’s new system was unveiled today at Formnext 2024 at booth E11 in Hall 11.0, though it not yet commercially available. According to the 3D printing company, it is now taking applications for its early adopter program. Earlier this year, Farsoon introduced a significantly larger metal LPBF solution, the FS811M, which, with a build volume of 840 x 840 x 960 mm, is one of the largest metal LPBF systems on the market today. Configurable with up to 12 500-watt fiber lasers, it goes without saying that this system is built for high-volume production (or for printing huge components).
