Farsoon Technologies, a global leader in industrial additive manufacturing, reported it has sold a total of over 150 large-format “Meter-Scale” metal 3D printing systems worldwide. These advanced systems, designed for producing parts over one meter in size, are now in use across North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region.

A standout among these is the FS1521M series, which offers a massive build volume of 1530 × 1530 × 1650 mm and supports up to 32 lasers, each with a 500W power rating. Twenty units of this model have been sold, further strengthening Farsoon’s position as a leader in the meter-scale metal additive manufacturing market. These systems are now fully integrated into production environments, supporting everything from research and development to full-scale manufacturing. They help industrial clients increase productivity, improve performance, and reduce costs.

Discover how Farsoon installed over 150 large-format systems globally, enhancing additive manufacturing across industries. The surge in demand is driven by sectors such as aerospace, where large-format and high-throughput capabilities are crucial. Farsoon’s technology has evolved from being a prototyping tool to becoming a reliable part of the production line. Falcontech, one of Farsoon’s key customers, has installed nearly 40 meter-scale systems since 2019, setting up dedicated production lines to meet the high-volume needs of end-use metal parts.

Farsoon’s meter-scale systems are also used by OEMs, tier-one suppliers, and research institutions, contributing to the broader industrialization of additive manufacturing. The FS1521M series is especially popular for applications involving titanium structural parts and copper alloy thermal components—two areas where size and precision are crucial.

The FS1521M series brings five key technological advancements that help overcome production challenges. Its dual-layer airflow system efficiently removes smoke and particles across wide build areas, ensuring consistent process stability. A high-capacity powder management system, capable of recycling 360 liters of powder per hour using four 90L/H modules, enables continuous, large-scale production. Multi-laser calibration ensures build precision to within ±0.05 mm, providing consistent part quality. Farsoon’s MES (Manufacturing Execution System) platform streamlines operations, reducing labor needs by allowing one operator to manage up to 12 machines. Meanwhile, an advanced software suite offers real-time monitoring and traceability, aligning with the stringent quality standards of industries such as aerospace and oil and gas.

Farsoon is also focused on developing materials and processes, particularly for aerospace applications that require high-strength, lightweight, and heat-resistant components. The company has developed over 40 certified processes for metal powder bed fusion (PBF), ensuring high accuracy and reliable performance in critical applications.

To meet the unique needs of the industry, Farsoon has introduced several innovative solutions. The “SRS” Support-Reduction System allows for minimum support angles as low as 10 degrees (or 15 degrees for inverted cones), which significantly reduces material use and post-processing time while maintaining structural density. Speed optimization features improve productivity across large-format builds without sacrificing part quality. In addition, Farsoon has developed specialized solutions for copper alloys with the FS621M-Cu system, which overcomes the difficulties of printing with highly reflective materials, enabling stable production of large copper components.
