Farsoon introduces LFAM 12-laser FS811M metal LPBF platform

Boasting a build volume of 840 x 840 x 960mm and a production yield of up to 300cm³/h

Farsoon, a Chinese industrial 3D printer manufacturer, has introduced the FS811M metal powder bed fusion series platform. The FS811M series boasts a build volume of 840 x 840 x 960mm and can be equipped with robust 6, 8, 10, or 12 x 500-watt fiber lasers.

“Being the latest additional to Farsoon’s metal 3D printer portfolio, the FS811M grew out of a co-innovation project with our key industry customers operating multiple FS621M systems,” said Wenyu Guo, Vice-Director of Farsoon metal product line management. “We’ve spent the past two years developing and optimizing the FS811M platform for specific application projects. Starting one year ago, we started to see the rapidly expanding large-format metal 3D printing applications in aerospace, oil and gas, energy, and automotive sectors. The industry customers are drawing greater requirements for manufacturing efficiency, reliability, and larger build size than FS621M. This is when we decided to fully commercialize the FS811M platform to scale up metal series production.”

With an XY build platform size of 840 × 840mm and a vertical axis of 960mm, the FS811M features an ultimate build volume of 677 liters – one of the largest in the metal laser powder bed fusion market. The high-speed Galvo system boosts a production yield of up to 300cm³/h. The advanced multi-laser scanning strategy enables high efficiency distribution and calibration accuracy in the overlapping area for uniformed mechanical properties of a single over-sized object, or volume-production parts throughout the large build platform.

The FS811M’s all-new multi-layer gas flow with advanced wind-wall design ensures real-time particle removal throughout the whole oversized chamber. The excellent air-tightness design of the build chamber enables extreme oxygen content and low inert gas consumption during the build process – ensuring part quality consistency while reducing operational costs. The permanent filtration system allows uninterrupted, reliable processing for extreme build times.

The build chamber is equipped with both front and rear doors for ease of operation and maintenance. Once the build is completed, the part cylinder can be transferred to the powder breakout station and part extract station via an integrated conveyor system. The breakout station is fully enclosed and can be accessed through glove boxes on all four sides – allowing multiple operators for powder removal and detailed cleaning in a safe, inert atmosphere.

The FS811M powder handling system shares a common modular powder container design for loading, recycling, and sieving under inert gas protection. Like all Farsoon systems, the FS811M is an open platform offering the user flexibility to tailor process parameters for industrial applications and cost-competitive metal additive manufacturing.
