Farsoon, an industrial Chinese metal AM systems producer, has introduced its FS721M-8-CAMS (Continuous Additive Manufacturing Solution) Concept Integration with the eight laser FS721M platform – one of the largest metal powder bed fusion manufacturing solutions available.

Series production

Integrating Farsoon’s CAMS concept, the FS721M-8-CAMS is equipped with an internal conveyor system and a unique exchangeable cartridge strategy. It allows for quick transfer of the completed build cartridge to the inert breakout station, the loading of the second build cartridge to the system, and the starting of the next print; while the breakout process is conducted in parallel. This highly efficient exchangeable cartridge strategy enables maximized machine ‘laser-on’ time, continuous production capability, and intense manufacturing turnovers with minimal machine downtime between jobs.

Equipped with an expanded rectangular build cylinder of 720 x 420 x 390mm and eight fiber lasers, the FS721M-8-CAMS can boost productivity up to 300cm³/h and lower production costs per part.

The FS721M-8-CAMS features many capabilities for enhanced part quality and repeatability, including high-performance digital optics, customized multi-laser scanning strategies, and process parameters – ensuring higher productivity and uniform performance in multi-laser overlapping zones. The company also offers an advanced multi-laser calibration tool for overlap calibration.

The updated chamber features include multi-layer gas flow with a wind-wall design for smooth and clean operation. The new recoater design improves the powder surface flatness and consistency throughout the build area.

The advanced closed-loop powder handling system integrates multiple powder processes under a fully enclosed inert environment, including powder recycling, storage, sieving, and powder supply. The integrated permanent filtration module also reduces operational cost, and enhances operational ease and safety.

The FS721M-8-CAMS is powered by Farsoon’s MakeStar software which offers powerful build process control and real-time monitoring of the build environment including laser power, airflow, temperature, humidity, and many other features.
