FAB25 Czechia brings the FABx series of events to Central Europe for the first time
Celebrating the world's largest gathering of digital fabrication scientists, educators and entrepreneurs
The global digital fabrication community will converge in the Czech Republic this summer as FAB25 Czechia, the 21st edition of the international FABx conference, takes place from July 4–11, 2025, in Brno and Prague. Organized by the Fab Foundation in collaboration with MIT’s Center for Bits and Atoms, this year’s event carries the theme “Bridge the gap” and marks the conference’s return to Europe after seven years. With over 1,100 participants expected from more than 55 countries, FAB25 promises a dynamic eight-day program of keynotes, hands-on workshops, cross-disciplinary dialogues, and vibrant cultural exchanges.
The FAB25 Czechia organizing team emphasized the local significance and international scope of the event. “Technological creativity has a long-standing tradition and public support in the Czech Republic. We are also a gateway to Eastern Europe, where digital production and shared workshops are still emerging,” said Vojtěch Kolařík, Project Manager at Make More. “That’s why we chose ‘Bridge the gap’—we’re bridging geographies, disciplines, and generations.”
In keeping with its title, the event will span two of Czechia’s key cities: Brno, known for its technical innovation and university culture, and Prague, the historic and cultural heart of the country. Attendees will travel mid-week on a specially organized “Maker Train” connecting both venues, transforming transit into an opportunity for collaboration and creativity. A family-friendly side program is also planned, inviting participants to bring children for an inclusive experience.
The FAB25 Czechia agenda features major thematic tracks, including a look back and forward at “25 Years and Beyond” of FabLabs, open-source pathways “From Maker to Market,” educational transformation through “Skills for the Digital Age,” and a showcase of “Emerging Technologies” with a spotlight on 3D printing. The conference also includes Prusa Day—highlighting the achievements of Czech 3D printing company Prusa Research—and concludes with the Fab Festival, an open event inviting the public to join in the celebration of making.
Among the headline speakers are renowned voices shaping the future of digital fabrication: Neil Gershenfeld, MIT professor and FabLab pioneer; Sherry Lassiter, president of the Fab Foundation; Josef Průša, founder of Prusa Research; Bas van Abel, ethical tech entrepreneur and founder of Fairphone; Dale Dougherty, founder of MAKE Magazine and key figure in the maker movement; Massimo Banzi, co-founder of Arduino; and Scotty Allen, creator of the popular Strange Parts YouTube channel.
With discounted tickets available until the end of March, FAB25 Czechia is gearing up to be one of the most ambitious and inclusive editions yet. It will bring together global leaders, local innovators, educators, and curious makers of all ages to shape the next 25 years of digital fabrication.
