PiùAdditive, the new exhibition area dedicated specifically to additive technologies, is all set to take place October 12th to the 15th in Milan, as part of 33.BI-MU. The event will be held after a long period in which it was not possible to organize physical events. Videoconferences and digital events, although well-organized, have proven unable to replace meetings and interpersonal exchanges, which often prove to be the added value of these events, especially in a transversal and constantly growing area like 3D printing.
Many companies are showing enthusiasm about participating in piùAdditive. 3dpbm spoke with some of them to learn about their motivations and expectations, ahead of fair scheduled for next autumn.

Among these companies, a leading role will be played by Prima Additive, a metal AM hardware manufacturer specializing in two laser-based technologies: Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) and Direct Energy Deposition (DED). Born as a Business Unit of Prima Industrie, Prima Additive, is now an independent company after merging with 3D New Technologies. The company’s goal has always been to reduce the barriers to entry of this technology, by reducing costs, increasing efficiency and providing a series of services to customers to allow them to fully exploit all the benefits of AM applied to their production context. Leveraging over 40 years of manufacturing experience Prima Additive is able to be at it customers’ side and guide them throughout the process of adopting metal 3D printing in their production context.

“This year will be our second participation in BIMU, after the 2020 edition”, CEO Paolo Calefati explained to 3dpbm regarding the company’s participation in piùAdditive, “We noticed during the fairs we attended in 2021 that, despite the pandemic, there is great enthusiasm, a sign of the entrepreneurs’ desire to invest to innovate and grow their company. Like every year, the appointment with the Milan fair will be an important opportunity to present important innovations to the Italian market and meet new customers. We are sure that the BIMU piùAdditive will not disappoint our expectations “.

Renishaw, a historic company in the additive manufacturing landscape, will also be presenting at PiùAdditive. The British company designs and manufactures machines for additive manufacturing of metal parts. Renishaw machines use a highly automated multi-laser bed laser fusion process, which allows the construction of high-performance mechanical components. The Italian branch deals with the distribution and support of these machines on the national territory, in addition to offering training and development of dedicated processes. Enrico Orsi, product manager of the Turin-based company, stated that the company “will participate in piùAdditive because we plan to meet companies that have a vision for their future, we want to be part of that vision and we think we can contribute to it”.

Among the companies that will be present in Milan in October, there will also be TRUMPF, one of the most important players worldwide in the field of additive manufacturing and beyond. The company boasts a portfolio that includes solutions for both the application of Laser Metal Deposition (LMD) and Laser Metal Fusion (LMF) technology. The Italian branch deals with consultancy and resale, also offering all after-sales services such as spare parts, maintenance, Industry 4.0 integration, etc. TRUMPF’s presence at piùAdditive is due to the fact that “this fair is a great opportunity to meet new potential customers and to be able to show them all the latest from TRUMPF’s growing portfolio. Furthermore – said Mariano Briano, Division Manager for TRUMPF Italy – we will be present with industry experts to provide advice and explanations to anyone interested.”

We close with RIDIX, another important company that was among the first to register for the next PiùAdditive show. RIDIX has been working for more than fifteen years in the world of metal AM and the company is TRUMPF’s partner for marketing these technologies in the Italian market. Working in synergy with the manufacturer, RIDIX is able to accompany customers in evaluating their projects and identifying the best applications; managing the technical-commercial phase up to the choice and purchase of the most suitable machinery for the purposes identified. Regarding the company’s presence at the fair, Alessandro Zito, Machine Sales Director at RIDIX, told us: “We will participate in piùAdditive because it will be a unique opportunity to present the news and performances of our systems to the Italian manufacturing world, in an international setting with the presence of all the players in the supply chain in this sector “.

Those we have talked about in this article are just some of the companies that will be among the protagonists at Fiera Milano from the 12th to the 15th of October. There is a lot of anticipation for an event that will mark an important new phase for additive manufacturing in Italy and, more generally, for the industry 4.0 paradigm. Stay connected with us to get a preview of the upcoming news related to piùAdditive, the various stages of development as we approach this important fair and a lot more in the world of AM.
