ExOne Global Holdings moves Spectra Mono-Z printhead production to Detroit
Binder jet manufacturer establishes US parts inventory and revamps maintenance and support offering for domestic operators
ExOne Global Holdings has begun producing its Spectra Mono-Z printhead at a facility in Canton, Michigan, marking the company’s first step toward building out a broader US manufacturing base for major machine subsystems.
The move targets supply chain resilience for industrial binder jet operators across defense, aerospace, automotive, energy, and foundry sectors, with the Canton facility representing a deliberate effort to reduce reliance on international component sourcing.
Alongside the domestic printhead production, ExOne has also introduced a set of operational changes intended to reduce total cost of ownership for US customers. The company is building a Detroit-area spare parts and consumables inventory scaled to current demand, with plans to expand as the installed base grows.
A new annual price list — covering applicable tariffs and freight to Detroit — replaces the company’s previous variable pricing model, and ExOne stated the published schedule is intended to give procurement teams consistent, predictable cost visibility.
The company also refreshed its three-tier maintenance program, spanning Essentials, Recommended, and Enterprise levels, serving single-machine operators through large fleet customers.
The Recommended tier was repriced lower than the prior year, and custom pricing is available for fleet operators. Free 24/7 live phone support, with a guaranteed human response at all hours, is now available to all customers. Remote support at no charge had been in place since the company changed ownership in 2025.
“These updates are a direct response to recent customer feedback around domestic supply, expedited parts access, predictable pricing, and support they can count on,” said Mike Dougherty, Managing Director of Americas, ExOne Global Holdings.
