Essentium unveils new HSE 3D printer models and four high-temp materials

Texas-based Essentium, Inc. is bringing to market a new printer series based on its High Speed Extrusion (HSE) technology as well as a range of new high-temperature (HT) 3D printing materials. The new HSE 3D printer series—HSE 180S—comes with two printer options, one with a low-temperature nozzle (LT) and one with a high-temperature nozzle (HT) that can reach temperatures of up to 550°C, enabling the use of high-temperature materials and paving the way for more industrial applications.

Essentium, like many other 3D printing companies, has recognized that one of the bottlenecks to additive manufacturing’s industrialization is related to materials and the lack of choice that end users have. To address this, the company is aiming to expand its HSE 3D printing materials portfolio substantially, offering industrial-grade polymers.

As part of today’s announcement, Essentium has introduced four new materials: PEEK, High-Temperature Nylon (HTN), HTN-CF25 and HTN-Z (ESD safe). All four materials were designed to deliver good heat, chemical and fatigue resistance as well as high strength. Essentium’s filament portfolio also comprises TPU 74D, PA-CF, PA, PLA XTR and PCTG.

Used in combination with the new Essentium HSE 180S HT, the four new materials can be used to produce a range of high-performance parts, from machine components, to tools, jigs or fixtures for the aerospace, semiconductor and oil and gas industries, among others.

The Essentium HSE 180S LT, for its part, can be used to produce prototypes, castings, low-temperature jigs and fixtures as well as prosthetic sockets and orthotic devices for the medical sector. The low-temp machine also has applications in the footwear, apparel, architecture and design verticals.

As well as unveiling its new HSE 180S 3D printer series and materials, Essentium has also revealed it will be integrating Materialise’s Magics Essentials software with the HSE 3D printer. This integration will facilitate the scalability of the 3D printing process by offering an end-to-end workflow. Materialise, as some may remember, was an investor in Essentium’s Series A funding round.
