EOS launches BluePrint Vlog to promote responsible manufacturing
Hosted by Björn Hannappel, EOS' Head of Sustainability
Marie Langer, CEO of metal and polymer PBF 3D printer manufacturer EOS, has always shown a heartfelt concern for ethical and sustainable manufacturing and business practices. She has been on the front lines of promoting diversity and inclusion, condemning the war on Ukraine, and promoting sustainable and responsible manufacturing. The latest effort from EOS in this sense is the new BluePrint Vlog, where the company intends to offer insights into projects, concepts, and ideas on how to make responsible manufacturing the new normal, step by step, looking at the ecological and social impacts.
The BluePrint Vlog project stems from the idea that we all need to treat planet Earth as our long-term home and be aware that the world of manufacturing is a major contributor to high emissions. As a pioneer and advanced manufacturing technology expert, EOS is committed to accelerating the world’s transition to responsible manufacturing via the adoption of industrial 3D printing. While there is still a lot of work to do, the company truly believes in this path forward.
Björn Hannappel, EOS’ Head of Sustainability, will host several planned episodes to discuss how to make responsible manufacturing the new normal with the company’s partners and customers. Among them CEO Marie Langer will explain how saving resources can help overcome environmental challenges and why 3D printing is the optimal production technology.
Björn’s first guests are Sebastian Zenetti, Managing Director and Head of Sales at YOU MAWO, and Sebastian Kilchert, Research Associate at Fraunhofer EMI. YOU MAWO offers customized and sustainably produced eyewear. The study conducted with Fraunhofer EMI proved that YOU MAWO’s frame production is three times more sustainable than the conventional manufacturing process. Sebastian Kilchert explains in detail what the focus of the study was and why the life-cycle assessment was such a big part of it.
