# EOS and Godrej team up to establish AM ecosystem for India’s aerospace sector

Every two years, the latest advancements in military aviation are on show at Aero India in Bengaluru. At this year's event, held in February 2025, additive manufacturing took on a more prominent role, with industrial AM company [EOS](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/eos/) signing a significant MOU with Indian multinational Godrej Enterprises Group. The aim of the partnership, in the simplest terms, is to advance the use of laser powder bed fusion in India's [aerospace and space industries](https://www.voxelmatters.com/category/aerospace/).

EOS, a leading AM company specializing in both polymer and metal powder bed fusion, reportedly has the largest global AM install base in the space tech industry. Among its customers and partners are [LAUNCHER](https://www.voxelmatters.com/amcm-and-its-custom-eos-machines-are-pushing-the-limits-of-metal-am/), [ArianeGroup](https://www.voxelmatters.com/how-amcm-supports-arianegroups-space-launches/), RUAG, Senior PLC and more. Working closely with Godrej, EOS will establish an AM-based ecosystem and supply chain that will serve Indian aerospace OEMs as well as OEMs around the world, enabling them to benefit from optimized, consolidated components and more sustainable production methods.

As Maneck Behramkamdin, executive VP and business head of aerospace at Godrej & Boyce, a part of Godrej Enterprises Group, said: "This partnership represents a strategic step towards future readiness. 3D printing is driving a paradigm shift in aerospace design, enabling us to create complex shapes and sizes through a single printing process. The first phase of the partnership between the two companies will focus on the integration of large-scale multi-laser additive manufacturing for aerospace applications. Godrej & Boyce, an influential player in India's aerospace market, specializes in the production of cryo-engine assemblies and satellite thrusters. The company sees in AM a way for India to become more self reliant and to advance its position in the global aerospace market.

"AM has brought about an undeniable transformation of the space industry,” commented Vinu Vijayan, director of EOS India. "We are already seeing examples of conventionally manufactured assemblies consisting of more than 100 parts being simplified via AM into a mere three or four parts for ease of assembly, manufactured as needed, and resulting in reduced complexity and costs. We have also succeeded in developing and certifying the first flight-safety-critical, Class 2 titanium part for a passenger aircraft —the highest level of qualifications for aerospace."

For EOS, the partnership represents an important inroad into the Indian market. The company also believes it is well positioned to help the country advance its aerospace ambitions by offering its unique AM competencies and solutions. “This is such a natural partnership and ultimately marks a significant milestone in the advancement of AM in India," concluded Dr. Ankit Saharan, director metals technology of global Additive Minds, the technical consulting department of EOS.
